Some fans may wonder why the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake has seemingly been lacking in terms of updates. Considering it is a highly anticipated project, one would assume that the title would gain more traction as of late. The same applies to Kingdom Hearts 3 as well. Recently, the games’ developer, Square Enix, finally addressed the lack of updates regarding the aforementioned projects.
Square Enix Addresses Lack of Final Fantasy 7 Remake News
Shinji Hashimoto, a game producer at Square Enix, recently gave his two cents as to why there has been a lack of updates regarding the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3. It’s worth noting that Hashimoto is involved in both aforementioned titles. As Hashimoto explains, Square Enix’s upcoming projects each have their own calendars of development planning.
With this into account, Hashimoto adds that there is a need to consult these calendars in order to check in on the progress of each project. This is so that Square Enix will be able to properly share the most relevant information on upcoming titles. Hashimoto adds that this year alone celebrates several events. As such, he believes that “it is obvious that fans are expecting a lot.”
Additionally, Hashimoto shares that Square Enix aims to celebrate all the events targeted at several of their titles. This includes a number of anniversary celebrations, such as the 15th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts, the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7, and the 30th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series.
“We wish we could give as much information as possible,” Hashimoto explains, “but it is imperative that we have control on the calendar in order, so that we can reveal relevant information at the precise time.” Taking Hashimoto’s statement into consideration, it seems that the remake of Final Fantasy 7 is still not at its prime development stage. At least, not at a notable stage worth sharing to audiences just yet.
