Players will be able to participate in the crafting of the gaming experience they get from Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. According to the upcoming game’s creative director Shaun Escayg, the relationship between Chloe Frazer and her uncanny sidekick, Nadine Ross, will have an effect on how their story pans out.
Friend or Foe
Nathan Drake has always had a sidekick in all four Uncharted games. Whether it was his mentor, Sully, or colleague, Chloe Frazer, Nathan’s sidekicks have existed in order to give the famed treasure hunter someone to banter with. That will change in Uncharted: Lost Legacy. In the upcoming action-adventure game, Naughty Dog is giving Nadine Ross a little more influence to how the narrative will turn out.
“If the characters are doing well – if they’re having a good time and bonding – then gameplay is at its most efficient: you’re fighting and Nadine is there kicking some ass, Escayg explained in an interview with PlayStation. “If the characters are at odds, though, you may have more difficulty.”
He even warned that Nadine might abandon Chloe and do her own thing if the players leave the characters at odds. “[T]his is really exciting for us at Naughty Dog because we’re always trying to blur the line between cut-scene and gameplay,” he added.
Exploring The Story of Nadine Ross
This makes sense considering that the upcoming game would explore not just Chloe Frazer’s story, but also the life of Nadine Ross. While both characters appeared in previous Uncharted games, not much is known about either character’s past.
Escayg teased that fans will see an unexpected side to Nadine Ross in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Likewise, the game will also reveal a very interesting and rather tragic snippet in the life of Chloe Frazer.
Fans will have time to explore these stories because, as the game’s creative director explained, there will some side quests that can build or tear apart the relationship between the two characters. There will also be an option to spend hours in one spot in order to fully explore and experience the world and the characters. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be available for purchase starting Aug. 22.
