Hideo Kojima may be bringing in the master of Japanese horror manga Junji Ito into Death Stranding. This is an interesting venture, as several fans previously suspected a collaboration between the two for Kojima’s awaited project. How will this pan out in Death Stranding gameplay?
Junji Ito and Death Stranding Gameplay
It’s worth noting that a collab between Ito and Kojima for Death Stranding gameplay has yet to be actually confirmed. Though Kojima recently posted a photo of himself with Ito, it could mean something else entirely. Perhaps the two were simply hanging out, or perhaps they have other projects up their sleeves.
Regardless, the prospect of Kojima working with Ito for Death Stranding is definitely an exciting possibility. To have Ito on the team could mean more horror elements may be on the horizon for Death Stranding gameplay.
Some fans believe that Ito may be joining the Death Stranding team to work on designs for some nightmarish creatures that may make an appearance in the game. Whether or not this is indeed the case is still unknown. Nevertheless, fans are still excited to see Ito and Kojima together, regardless if it’s for Death Stranding or otherwise.
Who is Junji Ito?
To those who may not be familiar with him, Junji Ito is a Japanese manga artist who is known for his products of horror. Some of his notable works include Uzumaki, Tomie, and Gyo. Notably, Ito was actually on the team for the now defunct Silent Hills. As some fans know, Silent Hills was originally Kojima’s project before it was ultimately canceled after his departure from Konami.
With Kojima now on his own with Death Stranding, it seems he has not forgotten Ito as a potential collaborator. Previous reports already speculated that a collaboration between the two for Kojima’s anticipated title seemed likely. This is especially considering Ito’s history with Kojima and Silent Hills. The recent picture from Kojima only further supports such speculations.
Other Death Stranding News
Previous rumors suggested that the Death Stranding cast could see an inclusion in the form of Marvel’s own Stan Lee. This was due to a post made by Kojima which shows a figure of Lee with a figure of Mads Mikkelsen in the background. With Mikkelsen as part of the Death Stranding cast, some fans were led to believe that Kojima’s post was a subtle teaser for what’s to come. However, no confirmation regarding involvement from Lee has been made. As such, the possibility of Kojima working with Lee remains to be a rumor for now.
