Players want to get the expansion of Destiny 2, says game publisher Activision. In fact, CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed that the DLC is going to be almost as important as the main game.
Destiny 2‘s Expansion
Bungie’s new game, Destiny 2, will not come out until next month, but Hirshberg is already confident that it will be a massive success. He shared in an interview with Game Spot that pre-orders are “very strong,” and a lot of them are for the premium version that includes the expansion.
The Activision CEO advised that getting the premium version would be the better idea. After launch, Destiny 2 will have multiple expansions that are yet to be detailed but will be extremely necessary. “Finally, and maybe most importantly with a game like this, Destiny is so engaging that the follow-on content is almost as important if not as important as the main game,” he told the site.
Hirshberg also admitted that the first game did not get an expansion fast enough. So, this time around, Activision tapped Vicarious Visions and High Moon Studios to work with Bungie. As he pointed out, the publisher is “widening [its] stable of developers” to satisfy the colossal demand for more content.
Bigger and Better
With Destiny 2, Activision aims to make the franchise even bigger. For one, the publisher is bringing the sci-fi game to PC. Bungie, on Thursday, revealed a few more details about the game’s PC beta that will offer the same contents console players are getting except for one – the PC version would also get access to a new Control PVP Map, Javelin-4. The beta will run until Aug. 31.
Activision has also partnered with Blizzard, the same people behind World of Warcraft, to launch the PC version of the company’s Battle.net service. Moreover, Activision will localize the game for other countries.
Destiny 2 will be available on Sept. 8 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In addition to the main game and the expansion, the premium version of the game will also include digital content such as Legendary Sword, Legendary Player Emote, Cabal Empire Themed Emblem. The game is also now available for pre-order.
