A new trailer for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony shows off some of the game’s cast of characters. In particular, it gives fans a look into some of the “Ultimate” students that will face off in antagonist Monokuma’s killing game. It’s worth noting that not all of the Ultimates make an appearance in the game’s latest trailer. Nevertheless, it introduces some of the characters that players will get to know upon the title’s release.
Danganronpa V3: What are Ultimates?
Longtime fans of Danganronpa games are no strangers to the franchise’s concept of Ultimate students. For the uninitiated, each game features a set of students who are at the top of their respective talents and skills. Hence, the “Ultimate” title.
In the history of Danganronpa games, Ultimates have ranged from Ultimate Swimmer, to Ultimate Photographer, to even an Ultimate Impostor. Each Danganronpa title features a different selection of Ultimate students. In the latest Danganronpa V3 trailer, audiences get a better look at just a handful of the next crop of Ultimates subjected to Monokuma’s evildoing.
Danganronpa V3 Trailer Introduces New Ultimate Students
The trailer first reveals Ryoma Hoshi, who is called the Ultimate Tennis Pro. The Ultimate Astronaut, meanwhile, is Kaito Momota. Next, the trailer shows off Himiko Yumeno, who boasts of being the Ultimate Magician. Finally, there is Angie Yonaga, who is the Ultimate Artist.
Interestingly, the trailer closes with the introduction of Monodam, one of the antagonists of V3. He is part of the Monokuba Kubs, a group of child-like bear robots that claim to be the children of Monokuma himself. Besides the introduction of these characters, the trailer also reveals snippets of dialogue from the game. Additionally, it shares the English voice acting for the aforementioned characters as well.
It’s worth noting that V3 already saw a release in Japan earlier this year. Its worldwide release, thanks to NIS America, is reportedly set for September. In terms of gameplay, V3 will still follow the same formula as its predecessors in the franchise. This will include the Class Trials, which will closely concern the Non-Stop Debate. Notably, the Rebuttal Showdowns from Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair will make a return in V3.
Though it still features the same format as other Danganronpa games, V3 presents its own new gameplay additions as well. One such feature involves the Mass Panic Debates for the Class Trials. This will have several characters talking over one another. Consequently, such a sequence will pose a greater difficulty for players to pinpoint the correct statement to choose. Other new features include Debate Scrums, Excavation Imagination, and tweaks to Brain Drive.
