The Destiny 2 beta is coming to a close and the short taste of the game has given us an idea of what to expect in the full game. There’s still a lot we haven’t seen though but luckily, Bungie has been explaining some of the other mechanics we’ve yet to see. In a recent playthrough, Bungie explains how side quests will work in the game.
In an IGN First video, Bungie gets a chance to explain how side quests will be like in the second game. Based on what we’ve learned so far, side quests won’t be typical short missions to keep us busy and happy with rewards but there’s also a short narrative that goes along with it.
Adventure Missions will serve as side quests in Destiny 2. These missions will be self-contained short quests that won’t only give players a set of tasks to do, but will also give them a little insight about the lore and world of Destiny 2. This is yet another step to provide a better narrative in the game on the part of Bungie.
Adventure missions will be available on all of the worlds that players can explore in Destiny 2. This means that the Nessus, Titan, IO and the European Dead Zone will have a few quests. We’ve yet to know just how deep the stories go in Adventure missions but since they are available in several planets, we can expect a slew of stories from the NPCs that originate from various areas.
Another form of side-quests in the game are several missions called Lost Sectors. These Lost Sectors will serve as mini-dungeons with rewards at the end. With these things considered, Destiny 2 will have a ton of hours of gameplay under its wing. The only thing left to do now is to simply wait for the game to arrive on Sept. 6.
