The year is finally coming to a close. While it was a very polarizing year for world events, celebrity deaths, and news, 2016 was a fairly good year for games all around. So here’s a list of the top 10 PC games from 2016.

As a note, these results come from the aggregate review site Metacritic. To qualify for the list, there must be at least ten reviews from official outlets.

1. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine

  • Metacritic Average: 92
  • Release Date: May 30
  • Other Platforms: PS4, Xbox One

An expansion pack to the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 that adds over 20 hours of new content. Many reviewers state that it’s the perfect end to a wonderful franchise.

2. Overwatch

  • Release Date: May 23

Blizzard’s newest IP that took the world by storm. With over a million players across the world and several “Game of the Year” awards, Overwatch quickly became an ubiquitous product known and beloved by many.

3. Dark Souls III

The third entry in the popular Dark Souls franchise. Dark Souls III continuous to impress players and critics alike with its unforgiving difficulty, tight combat mechanics, and grimdark aesthetics.

4. Owlboy

A game nine years in the making, Owlboy demonstrates adventure-platformer games done right. Take on the role of Otus as you and your allies as you explore the open skies of this wonderful world.

5. Stardew Valley

A love letter to the Harvest Moon franchise, Stardew Valley gives players the opportunity to experience the peaceful farm life. A mix and match of different genres and game elements, many fell in love with the game’s old school charm and heart.

6. XCOM 2

The sequel to Firaxis’ original XCOM, XCOM 2 talks of a future where the aliens won the initial invasion. Now part of the rebels, players must combat both alien and human threats as they attempt to regain Earth from the alien forces.

7. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI

The latest entry in the grand strategy franchise, Civilization VI returns to give players the challenge of creating an empire that will stand the test of time.

8. Battlefield 1

The latest shooter from DICE’s prestigious Battlefield series, Battlefield 1 brings players back in time to the very first World War.

9. World of Warcraft: Legion

The sixth expansion to World of Warcraft saw the return of the demons of the Burning Legion. Many say that the expansion brought new life to the game.

10. The Witness

A beautifully created adventure puzzle game. Players must traverse a mysterious island and solve over 500 unique puzzles that will take a sharp mind and a keen eye to figure out.
