Injustice 2: Release Date Leaked; DLC May Bring Watchmen Characters

A surprise in the realm of DC Comics is the inclusion of the Watchmen in what appears to be a shared universe. With a conspiracy on the loose, does Injustice 2 have room for Watchmen characters?

Comic fans will remember quite the astonishing surprise when Dr. Manhattan made his appearance on the moon at the end of one of the most recent story arcs in DC Comics. This cements the theory that Watchmen characters are now indeed in the DC Universe.

Not only that, but it appears all the characters from the DC Rebirth line of comics has lost ten years’ worth of memories. That being said, what just happened to them?

Regardless, NetherRealm Studios’ creative director Ed Boon just wants them to duke it out against the rest of the DC Universe.

The Mortal Kombat director has teased that characters such as MK staple Sub-Zero and Spawn may be included in Injustice 2. However, it appears the characters from the hit Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ graphic novel may make an appearance.

While the results of the tweet gave an astounding Yes, there are still no details about the characters’ inclusion.

However, the mere thought of having Dr. Manhattan face off toe-to-toe against Superman or Wonder Woman sure is a sight to see. The appearance of the other Watchmen characters and their mortal powers can give a gritty Mortal Kombat vibe to the game.

Regardless, this fits the rather brutal and gory style of Injustice 2 and its predecessor. For instance, the arsenal of Eddie Blake (the Comedian) can go match that of the Suicide Squad’s Deadshot.

The potential DLC can even include a lot more story arcs than ever before, and even cement the foundation of a bigger Injustice 2 universe.

The newest game appears to have a dynamic armor system, where the wears of the characters change depending on their progress in the game. The roster of Injustice 2 appears to expand as well, including characters such as Supergirl and Blue Beetle.

However, more sources point towards the game having a 2017 release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This means players will not have to wait long in order to get a copy of the rather seminal game.
