Nina Dobrev recently reunited with her ex Degrassi: The Next Generation co-star Drake. This emotional reunion took place at the American Music Awards on Sunday. The Los Angeles event saw the pair reuniting once again.
Nina Dobrev presented rapper Drake with the Favorite Rap/Hip Hop album award. This wonderful reunion took place on stage during this presentation. Mail Online reports that both the stars earlier appeared in the teenage television drama almost 10 years back.
The 30-year-old rapper congratulated Nina Dobrev at the beginning of his acceptance speech. He thanked everyone for the award. He then proceeded to talk of how they starred together in the show. Drake also talked about coming a “long way” together with Nina.
He also congratulated Dobrev on her astounding success in recent times. Dobrev could not help clapping and giggling rapturously as Drake made his speech. Drake was effusive in his praise and he was definitely emotional on stage.
MTV News also reports that Drake was earlier known as Aubrey Graham. He was a young acting aspirant from Toronto. He was then signed up for Degrassi: The Next Generation. This was the show where Nina Dobrev joined in Season 6.
Why Drake Earned Praise
Drake has not forgotten where he came from. He was presented the award by Dobrev and best friend Julianne Hough. He won the Favorite Rap/Hip Hop album AMA for Views. Drake is now a veritable superstar in American and global music circles.
In the 2001 television series, Drake played basketball star Jimmy Brooks. Brooks eventually became physically disabled after being shot by a classmate. This would go on to be one of the most defining moments of the entire show. The show ran for an impressive 14 seasons. The Canadian soap also had Dobrev entering as the teenage mother Mia Jones.
Dobrev and Drake did not really do any scenes together. However, they both revel in being part of this iconic show.
