What does 2K have to offer for the first WWE 2K17 DLC? It seems the iconic Goldberg will be making a return to the squared circle.
That’s right, the first DLC pack for 2K’s latest wrestling game is the “Goldberg Pack DLC.” Of course it’s not entirely new, the content included in the pack was initially packaged as a pre-order bonus for the game. But it still remains as the first purchasable content for either console since the game’s original release in October.
For those unaware, included in the pack are two versions of Goldberg — a WCW and WWE variation. It also includes two WCW venues, Monday Nitro and Halloween Havoc. It’s not a lot of content, especially for the price of 4.99USD, but Goldberg’s recent return to WWE television will definitely help in sales.
WWE 2K17 a Disappointment?
That is, of course, assuming that a lot of people are still playing the game.
WWE 2K17 had a lukewarm reception in its initial release, with an average score of 68 and 73 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game respectively. Critics cited a lack of features — especially those present in previous games — poor graphics for a current-gen title, and poor performance as just some of the issues that plague the title.
Review outlet Destructoid reviewed the title saying, “WWE 2K17 is a poor simulation of the WWE product, often because it seems ashamed of pro wrestling.”
Along with Hardcore Gamer saying, “For everyone else, it’s getting increasingly difficult to rely on 2K to provide a quality modern wrestling game that the medium and its ever-expanding base of devotees deserve.”
So will the new DLC be enough to bring fans back to playing the game or is the core game too disappointing for a new character to make much of a difference? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
