WWE SmackDown 2016 Rumors: Undertaker Return vs John Cena on Nov 15

It appears the Undertaker will be making an appearance for WWE SmackDown 2016 after all. The Prince of Darkness will make an appearance for the 900th episode of SmackDown in a few weeks.

This is momentous news for wrestling fans as the industry is flooding with rumors about his unexpected retirement. According to Pennsylvania’s Mohegan Sun Arena, the Undertaker will be returning for SmackDown Live’s November 15 episode.

Fans will remember that the Undertaker hasn’t made a lot of appearances in the arena recently. According to the Bleacher Report, his last non-pay-per-view match was a victory against Dean Ambrose last 2013.

But with this in mind, will the Undertaker finally face John Cena in the ring?

According to Forbes, SmackDown’s direction with the Undertaker is a relatively new trend opposite what is happening today. Fans will notice that the industry is focusing on newer stars than old ones. This means the Undertaker’s return may mark a momentous match – and with Triple H, Lesnar and Goldberg with Raw – it seems John Cena is the way to go.

SmackDown 2016: Surprises Ahead

Interestingly, his return to WWE SmackDown 2016 will mark the five days before the Survivor Series. The scheduling implies that the Undertaker may not be getting a match for his November 15 appearance. This is a stark contrast to last year’s Survivor Series, as the Undertaker and Kane took on the Wyatt Family before the series began.

Regardless, the Undertaker’s return is a big move for WWE. Fans will remember that Goldberg and Brock Lesnar will have a momentous match ahead of the Survivor Series as well. The Undertaker may have a shadier role behind the scenes, and even be part of the groundwork for Royal Rumble or even WrestleMania.

Unfortunately, the rumors surrounding the Deadman’s retirement is half-true. While there hasn’t been any official announcement about his exit from the industry, he has recently undergone hip surgery. This removes any opportunity to enter the ring anytime soon and considering his age, he may not enter the ring again at all.

This means a match with John Cena may be impossible. However, it is interesting to see how the two may interact, should the latter make an appearance.

The Undertaker can be remembered to have been a very integral part of Wrestling history. He has been to the first Hell in a Cell match and is a witness to a lot of memorable moments in wrestling entertainment.

  1. Taker vs Cena would be great but I’d still really like to see the building Ambrose vs Cena feud too.
