Fans of Toy Story 4 will have to stretch their patience much longer as Pixar announces the delay of the fourth installment. Toy Story 4, one of the highest-grossing animation, is originally set for release on 2018. But Pixar recently announced the delay with its new release on 2019.
With this announcement, fans might think that there is a trouble brewing with the wooden cowboy and space fighter. But executives are quick to reassure fans that Toy Story 4 is definitely pushing through.
Entertainment Weekly conducts an interview Pixar Filmmaker Pete Docter. Docter shares that they just want to make sure that the fourth installment won’t retread territory from the trilogy.
“It’s hard, because as we get in there, we realize you don’t want this to just be another regurgitation of something we’ve seen,” he updates. “We’ve really plumbed the depths of these characters with Woody and Buzz, so to find something new that hasn’t been done, I feel like we’re onto it now. But it’s taken some real deep investigative work.”
Toy Story 4: Woody and Bo Peep In Love
Docter reveals that the story takes on another tale of Woody, Buzz and new friends that haven’t been introduced yet. EW is also able to interview Pixar boss John Lasseter. And Lasseter discloses that Toy Story 4 centers on a love story between Woody and Bo Peep.
Bo Peep was absent in Toy Story 3 but is definitely coming back in the fourth story to bring sunshine in Sheriff Woody’s life. This concept is inspired by Lasseter’s marriage, still according to EW.
Toy Story 4 is written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. Docter is helping in the development of the story.
Toy Story 4 is set for release on June 21, 2019.
