The much-awaited Kobe AD release date and other details have finally been revealed. Kobe Bryant’s basketball shoes line not only promises style but a performance boost fitting for an MVP.
Kobe has had a well-known and highly successful NBA career as a multi-skilled point guard. He has led his team to multiple championships and made a reputation for himself. Bryant is also considered one of the greats of his time in the sport. In fact, he has been clad with the ‘Most Valuable Player’ title several times.
Even in his last game, Kobe proved how skilled he is at the sport. He was able to score 60 points and showed no sign of slowing down. Despite still being in condition, the athlete has still decided for retirement.
The New Nike Kobe AD
With this in mind, Nike made sure to produce sneakers that are at par with the legend himself. The model is very sleek with micro-tread traction and the new Lunarlon foam for a comfortable sole.
The Kobe AD was modeled after the Black Mamba snake, taking on the same color of the infamous African predator.
Its name is assumed to come from the biblical timeline AD or Anno Domino also referred as After Death which pertains to Kobe’s retirement.
The black sneakers combined with an iridescent heel with hints of the snake’s colors offer an aesthetically pleasing take to the usually colorful style basketball shoes have. Not only that, it also adds balance and protection to the user’s heel, usually impacted by jumps and running.
Kobe, even though retired, made sure to keep the Mamba Mentality alive in his new kicks. The athlete shares that “Even though I am not on the court every day, there are people around the world who are helping to keep the ‘Mamba Mentality’ alive.”
