The PBA Draft 2016 is just a few hours away and fans will soon find new additions to their favorite teams. As for the franchises, the drafts will be the best way to add fresh talent to their roster, all with the end goal of winning the coveted championship. So who will be the top picks for the PBA Drafts 2016? Here’s what we know so far.
Reports have been rife that Jonathan Grey will be the top pick of the 2016 Drafts. The College of Saint Benilde stalwart has caught the eye of teams coaches after his showcase at the NCAA, his stint with Racal in the PBA D-League and his stay with the Gilas Cadets. Although, Grey’s CSB team fell to a lowly 1-17 the past season, he showed glimpses of greatness by being the team’s main scorer — be it in the rainbow area or slamming it down.
Others vying for the PBA Drafts 2016 number 1 pick is 6’2’’ guard, Raphael Banal. Son of coach Joel Banal, Ael was a former Ateneo player before moving to the states. He played for the Hope International University in California.
Blackwater owner Dioceldo Sy believes with the right picks and a few trades, the team will be a contender this coming season.
“With these two new drafts plus some trades and pickups, Blackwater should improve. I’m tired of being at the bottom these past two years. I think our time has arrived,” Sy revealed, notes Inquirer.
National University’s Gelo Alolino will also be joining the 2016 PBA Regular Drafts, as well as Chris Javier for the University of the East.
The pool of PBA Draft 2016 picks have been trimmed down to 41, after the PBA decided to have a separated draft for Gilas cadets.
The PBA Drafts 2016 will be held today, Oct 30, at Robinsons Ermita.
