Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 1 Online: Negan’s Victims Allegedly Revealed [Recap]

If you haven’t seen it yet, there are major spoilers from the Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 1 which will get you on the edge of your seat!

The Walking Dead Season 7 episode 1 took a new turn after two series regulars were killed off in a bloodthirsty premiere on Sunday. Characters Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) died at the hands of Negan.

Why It Happened?

After the season finale, there were numerous polls where fans anticipated the deaths of Glenn and Rhee leading up to the Walking Dead Season 7 episode 1. As per Hollywood Reporter, Yeun only had a year’s deal covering Season 6.

Additionally, Glenn’s end at Negan’s hands was something to be expected since it mirrors events in the 100th issues of Robert Kirkman’s comics. Here, the barbed wire draped bat is used by a new villain to monstrously shatter Glenn’s skull and pummel him to death. This macabre event takes place as horrified his family members and friends stay spectators.

Glenn’s death happens right after this AMC series had already paved the way for the same. Season 6 had Glenn encountering death repeatedly. In several gut wrenching situations, he was saved by Noah’s sacrifice and also by Abraham. He also miraculously staved off death when a baseball bat was used to bash his head by a person at Terminus.

Glenn also broke his strict moral code (no killing another human being) last season when the Savior compound was attacked by Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) coterie.

Negan killed Glenn as a fatal consequence of Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) actions. Abraham died right after the character just about outlived the comic book counterpart. He was killed first by Negan and the death will greatly affect his ex, Rosita (Christian Serratos), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Eugene (Josh McDermitt).

There are now nine survivors, namely Maggie, Rosita, Eugene, Sasha, Aaron (Ross Marquand), Carl (Chandler Riggs), Daryl (who has just been taken hostage by the Saviors), Rick and Michonne. They have to deal with Negan’s visits for taking half of their supplies at the Alexandria Safe Zone.

Season 7 has the biggest The Walking Dead cast till date and will branch out into four communities. These will be Negan’s Saviors, Rick’s group at Alexandria, Ezekiel’s Kingdom and Gregory’s Hilltop. Kirkman could barely conceal his excitement as he talked of the tons of new characters, scenarios and environments coming up in Season 7.
