The Order 1886 Sequel

The Order 1886 Sequel Review: Devs Reportedly Tease Big Plot, Success Despite Mediocre Launch

The Order 1886 was a highly-anticipated game a few years back. Its Tesla-meets-Monsters formula clicked with the genre’s fans. Sadly, The Order 1886 did not meet its expectations and was widely regarded as a mediocre game. This may be the reason why a lot of players were surprised to hear there will a The Order 1886 sequel.

According to the recent Game Informer podcast, numerous games such as Daxter and God of War may be getting sequels in the future. However, what piqued the interest of others is the mention of The Order 1886 sequel, which stunned a lot of fans.

To be fair, the mere idea of a The Order 1886 sequel is surprising. The game had an overwhelmingly average performance, much to the disappointment of fans. However, developers at Ready at Dawn apparently has plans.

A grim future

The Order 1886 is a triple-A title set in an alternate 1886 London. The game follows a fictionalized version of the “Knights of Round Table.” They are an organization tasked to keep the world safe from monsters such as vampires and werewolves. However, it seems the game has an overarching conspiracy filled with organizations that want to control the world.

Creative director Ru Weerasuriya said that they are planning to continue the larger story of the game. While there are no definitive plans for an actual story, The Order 1886 sequel is just another thread in the game’s overarching plot.

Fans and players of the game will know the game has a bigger story in play. It seems Ready at Dawn deliberately made The Order 1886 in order to generate a sequel.

Sadly, it’s this overarching plot that players wanted to see in the first place. In order for The Order 1886 sequel to fit, the studio ought to make a better story than the first one.

Fortunately, this is not the first time Weerasuriya shared this view. In May 2015, they revealed the game was never to be a one-shot. Hopefully, the studio will still have enough capital to support the game.

According to Game Rant, this is a sign that Ready at Dawn is willing to put another risk at The Order 1886 sequel. Fortunately, players will also understand that the ending left a lot of doors open for sequels.

Regardless, the game’s arrival will not be very soon. The studio is hard at work with at least two projects, including ones for VR.

Players can currently get The Order 1886 for the PlayStation 4.

  1. If you’re going to make a game with a sequel in mind, finish it. Don’t work on other projects, finish your damn game especially if everyone thinks the first game is just mediocre. Give people some hope that’ll be more than just okay.
