Looks like the much-awaited Sex and the City 3 movie is “fairly nearby,” according to Sarah Jessica Parker herself. But rumors are floating around that the lead actress will not be a part of the third installment.
Sex and the City is one of the most iconic HBO TV series which aired in 1998 and continued on until 2004. The series was based on a book by the same title from author Candace Bushnell about four women in their mid-thirties to forties and their sex-lives. Most iconic among the characters is Carrie Bradshaw who is also the narrator of the series.
Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker who is a columnist for the New York Star, sharing and exploring sex, gender and relationships.
Following the series were two movies on 2008 and 2010 and quite possibly a Sex and the City 3 movie soon.
Sex and the City 3 Movie Confirmed?
During CBS’ Sunday Morning, SJP said quite cryptically when asked about a Sex and the City 3 movie, that the idea “rests in the butler’s pantry. It’s not on the table, but somebody is holding it fairly nearby.”
Adding that the story might not be about looking back but forward. Which means more sexcapades for the four women.
“I would have sort of imagined that those women have only interest in looking ahead, while being informed by the past,” Parker said. “And in a way, maybe that would be the best for all of us — living people, nonfictional as well!”
Sex and the City 3 Movie without SJP?
Some are speculating that, if it is anything like the past, SJP might want to bail out again.
According to Bazaar, the actress has pleaded to leave Sex and the City twice already for fear of committing to the series and being restricted to only that.
Previously the actress shared with People that she wanted out of the first series saying “I met my agents in L.A.—Kevin Huvane—and I was like, ‘Do you think maybe I could not do this now?’ Because I wanted to keep doing a play and doing a movie and doing a play. So, the way I thought it was going to change my life was that it was going to like hold me hostage to a commitment.”
She continued on with the first season but the fear still lingered. “However, she loved the script so she filmed it and then forgot about it. Months later, she found out the show was picked up and she completely wanted to get out of it. I mean, completely. She really didn’t want to be tied down to one job because she loved going from gig to gig and being, what she called, a ‘journeyman.’,” Seth Rudetsky shared in his Playbill column.
SJP was convinced by HBO to continue with the series by saying that she will not be restricted and is still free to do what she likes and since then, she says, she has never hesitated to do the series again.
So, this seems to be good news for SJP’s fans because it looks like the star will still be in the Sex and the City 3 movie which is speculated to premiere in time for the series 20th anniversary on 2018.
