Mafia 3 Review: PS4 Gameplay Achievements will Excite Gamers!

Mafia 3 is just a few days away and gamers can’t wait to get their hands on the title. With the release date approaching, we have released our Mafia 3 review plus a lowdown on what to expect for PS4 and Xbox One gamers. Buckle up!

Developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games, Mafia 3 is a third-person, action-adventure game set in 1968 New Orleans, or what the game calls New Bordeaux. Gamers control the character of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam war veteran who establishes his own crime empire to seek revenge for the death of his adopted family.

Mafia 3 Review: More than a Game, it’s a View on Society

The third installment in the crime game franchise boasts impressive animation and graphics. The Mafia 3 trailer alone is enough to make people purchase the game on Friday, when it drops in stores.

The title, while may not necessarily be based on true-to-life events, is as real as could be. The setting will bring gamers to the world of 60s NOLA. As IGN noted, 1968 was a historic year for America — Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated, black Olympians showed fight against racism in the Olympics, Humans orbited the moon and Yale started admitting women. It was year worth remembering, and what better way than to immerse oneself into the era, through Mafia 3.

Notably, Clay isn;t just another anti-hero. He’s black, and fights racial prejudice. Perfectly matched with the game’s ’68 timeline.

“The Mafia experience is about organized crime. It’s about crime with a hierarchy, with traditions and rules. So we’re very focused on that for the story,” game director Haden Blackman explained, notes Polygon.

“At the same time, we didn’t want to shy away from the reality of the time and the place. There are quite a few moments in the story where race is referenced and race is part of the story, part of the plot. It’s part of who Lincoln is.”

Blackman added that racial slurs will be thrown in the gameplay, “to be authentic to the time period.”

With this in mind, gamers will never see Mafia 3 gameplay the same again.
