UEFA Champions League 2016: Barcelona vs Celtic Replay, Recap; Barca Dominates

The much-awaited UEFA Champions League 2016 Group Stage started with an explosive 7-0 win by five-time champion Barcelona, as it dominates the game against Celtic.

Celtic was simply no match against Barcelona as superstar Lionel Messi scores a record-breaking hat trick within the first hour of the game, surpassing the record of Cristiano Ronaldo. Neymar scored one goal and four assists, Luis Suarez with two goals and Andrés Iniesta with one.

Team Line-ups

According to FC Barcelona’s webpage, the official line up for the Barcelona vs Celtic game are: the two goal keepers, Ter Stegen and Jasper Cillessen, with the former dealing with a hamstring problem and the latter making his debut.

The sixteen outfield players are Gerard Piqué, Iván Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Arda Turan, Andrés Iniesta, Luis Suárez, Lionel Messi, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, Rafinha (Rafael Alcántara do Nascimento), Javier Mascherano, Paco Alcácer, Jordi Alba, Lucas Digne, Sergi Roberto, André Gomes and Samuel Umtiti.

Celtic line up during the game includes goal keeper Dorus De Vries; right and center back Mikael Lustig, Kolo Touré, Erik Sviatchenko, Kieran Tierney; James Forrest, Scott Brown, Tom Rogic, Nir Biton, Scott Sinclair; Moussa Dembélé. Striker Leigh Griffiths was not in the line-up due to a hamstring injury.

Barcelona vs Celtic Rivlary

Since the Scottish team joined UEFA Champions League in 2013, it has had ten games against Barcelona, with the latter having the upper hand with six wins. Two wins goes to Celtic and two games a draw.

In the pre-season friendly held July 30 in Dublin this year, Barcelona beat Celtic 3-1.

 UEFA Champions League 2016 Match Schedules

Champions League Group Stage match days are scheduled: September 13 and 14; September 27 and 28; October 18 and 19; November 1 and 2; November 22 and 23; and December 6 and 7. The match calendar can be viewed at the UEFA’s website.

The National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff will stage its first UEFA 2016 final on June 3, 2017.
