Over the weekend, Dead Rising trophies appeared for a Playstation 4 version of the 2006 zombie beat ‘em up, indicating that the decade old game might be receiving a reincarnation of its own. Today, Capcom Confirmed this, and more.
“Capcom will be bringing Dead Rising to Xbox One, PS4 and PC. In addition, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will make their way onto Xbox One and PS4. We will have more news to share soon.”
That’s all Capcom’s saying at the moment, but it reveals more than the leak did. Not only is Dead Rising 1 coming to PS4, but so is the sequel, and both games will also be coming to the Xbox One. PC isn’t being left out, but it’s only receiving the first game, which will also mark the first time it has appeared there.
The fact that PC isn’t also receiving Dead Rising 2 or Off the Record, as both games already available there, implies that perhaps these are simply ports and are not enhanced in any way, but again, Capcom isn’t saying much other than what game and which console, so there’s a lot of room for speculation and conjecture.
Also worth noting is that Dead Rising 4, due out December 6th, is a timed exclusive for Xbox One (and Windows), so it stands to reason that Capcom is trying to keep the franchise relevant on the PS4 in hopes that players check out the new game once its timed exclusive expires, and since Dead Rising 4 also marks the return of protagonist Frank West, it makes sense to give those on the PC a chance to experience where his story began.
If the ports are truly ports and not full remasters, then perhaps they’ll show up on their respective consoles before the latest game comes out on December 6th.
