Modern Warfare Likely Returning, Remastered

Nine years after its initial release in 2007, it would appear that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is getting remastered. Maybe the whole trilogy, too, if a few choice tweets are any indication.

It’s been rumored for a few days now, with blips showing up on the radar of the internet here and there, but now Activision has all but confirmed the rumors, and they dusted off a 2 year old tweet in order to do so.

Seems they’re calling one fan’s bluff, but does it go deeper than that?

Infinity Ward themselves tweeted out this:

That’s a Modern Warfare 2 quote. I guess if we took this all at face value, it would appear that there’s going to be a remastered collection at some point.

But wait, there’s more. Amazon also posted a store entry for the a Modern Warfare Trilogy.

Of course one of the games in the trilogy probably isn’t worth revisiting even if it’s remastered, but hey, I would definitely love to go back to Modern Warfare 1 & 2.

This is, of course, separate from the recent rumors that the next new Call of Duty would be set in space itself. If we can take anything from all these rumors,  it’s that I suppose we can be looking at four Call of Duty games releasing this year.  And you thought yearly releases were bringing the series down.

Well how do you feel about a new Call of Duty each year and remasters of old ones.

It’s Call of Duty all the way down.
