Battlefront Continues to Get More Content

While a lot of the general gaming community out there has all but forgotten about Star Wars Battlefront, EA DICE hasn’t. They’ll be keeping on keeping on.

Outer Rim came and went with not much more than a murmur. The second expansion, Bespin, arrives in June, which takes players to the famous Cloud City. The whole while EA DICE will be pumping more free content into the game. I guess it’s not a complete flub, though. According to swbstats, the PC user base might be dwindling, but PS4 and Xbox One are still fairly healthy. DICE has come out and said those sites aren’t accurate, but I don’t think they’re that off.

The free content, though, we can expect to see in Battlefront:

  • New In-Game Events – more double score weekends, community missions and Special Login Events are coming for players to earn more experience, credits and items.
  • New Hutt Contracts – Unlock powerful Star Cards like the Berserker Trait, Bacta Bomb and Ion Neutralizer.
  • More New Content – We also have a couple of surprises in store that we know our fans have been looking for, especially those who have been clamoring for ways to have more options to enjoy Star WarsBattlefront offline. More to come soon.
  • Specific for May the 4th – In celebration of Star Wars™ Day we have cool activities planned that we’ll announce soon.

EA DICE also revealed that every expansion to come out for Battlefront will include a new hero and a new villain. Battlefront might not be the Battlefront 3 that everyone was hoping for, but it wasn’t a bad game, and it’s cool to see EA and DICE supporting the game so well.

It’s entirely possible that this game will go the way of Battlefield 4. Disappointing at launch; awesome a couple years later. I haven’t quite written it off yet.

About Josh Price

Josh Price is a writer who probably spends too many hours of the day playing video games. At some point he decided to put the two together to (hopefully) great effect. He also wrote some fiction. You should check that out if you're into such things, which you should be. Reading is FUNdamental.
