Bethesda announced today that Doom would be having an multiplayer open beta in just over a week, from April 15th to the 17th. The publisher also detailed DLC plans for id Software’s latest shooter.
The open beta will feature a couple maps and a couple game modes, Teathmatch and Warpath on the Heatwave and Infernal maps. That’ll give you a good two days to decide whether or not the game is Doom… or Gloom.
But if you decide on the former rather than the latter, know that Doom will not rest once it’s out. No, it’ll keep going. In addition to the SnapMap creation tool to create multiplayer maps and new game modes, Doom will also be receiving free multiplayer modes as time goes on.
In addition to that, the game will be receiving three premium DLC packs after launch for $14.99, or $40 for the season pass. The first of which lands during the summer and will consist of:
- Three new maps
- One new weapon
- One new playable demon
- One new armor set
- One new piece of equipment
- New hack modules and taunts
- New customization colors and patterns
I guess we can assume the other two packs will feature content along a similar vein.
Now you can have your Doom and eat it, too.
