[UPDATE] Whoopsies. Evidently Tomb Raider has a total of nine nominations and not just eight, making it the true king (or queen) of DICE.
The 19th Annual DICE Awards are upon us. No, not that DICE. The Design Innovate Create Entertain Awards. These guys have nothing to do with the other DICE, of Battlefield/Battlefront fame. It took me roughly 17 minutes to figure that out myself when I first stumbled across the DICE Summit years ago. In fact, I’m not exactly sure how the DICE Awards and the Summit are connected. I just know they are.
Anyway, it’s time again to give awards to video games. Unsurprisingly, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt leads with eight nominations, but wait, that’s not all. Also with eight nominations: Rise of the Tomb Raider. Yup, it hasn’t received as much open praise as The Witcher, but evidently the new Tomb Raider (coming January 28th to Steam) was pretty solid as well, and the Awards have seemed to acknowledged that. The only other gaming being nominated almost as much as those two is, also somewhat surprisingly, Ori and the Blind Forest with six. The other two titles rounding out the Game of the Year category are Fallout 4 and Bloodborne.
Other games with a fair amount of nominations include Fallout 4 with five; Her Story, The Order: 1886, and Star Wars: Battlefront each with four nominations; Batman: Arkham Knight, Destiny: The Taken King, Rocket League, Lara Croft GO, Life is Strange, and Undertale with three each.
You can check out the full list of nominations right here.
Winners will be announced on February 16th at the conclusion of the 2016 DICE Summit.
