Although it was previously exclusive to pre-orders and the “Collector’s Edition” of the game, Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s “Homeland” DLC content is now available for the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U at $6.99. The first new feature of this downloadable content pack is a set of two new co-op missions named “Billionaire’s Yacht” and “Dead Coast”.
Concerning “Billionaire’s Yacht”, the official press release for the DLC states that, “In this story-related mission, infiltrate a rogue billionaire’s yacht the day after a decadent party in the Coral Sea solo or with a friend.” Whereas in “Dead Coast”, the player must “Take out a terrorist cell in a remote part of the Middle East in single player or co-op mode.”
Aside from the new co-op missions, the “Homeland” DLC also features a collection of new gadgets and gear for Sam Fisher, Splinter Cell’s protagonist. This includes the “Upper Echelon Suit”, which better protects the player from fire power and blends into shadows, and the “4E Eclipse Suit”, which lets Sam carry more gadgets and provides exceptional protection.
A new gadget included in the DLC is a crossbow with sleeping gas bolts, which stealthily puts enemies to sleep. New colors for Sam’s goggles are also part of the content pack and allow the player to replace the standard green goggle lights with gold, amber, or white lights. Finally, the “Homeland” DLC contains two new exclusive skins for the game’s “Spies Vs. Mercs” game mode.
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist is the newest installment in the Splinter Cell series and was released a little more than a month ago on August 20th, 2013.
