10 Games You Didn’t Plan on Buying This Fall… But Should

Yes, it is that time of year again when the majority of games are released and you as the gamer have to make the hard choice of which games to buy. This article will take a look at the games which you probably would overlook but really shouldn’t.
10. How to Survive
This is a third-person adventure based game that equips players to stay alive in a world full of zombies.  The game sees you stranded on a group of islands following a zombie outbreak. You must learn to craft new weapons and tools to stay alive. The producers, 505 games have said that it features “a robust crafting system” which will let you craft anything from fishing rods to explosives. The game will also let you work alongside other players in both online and local multiplayer .
Platforms: So far Xbox 360 and Wii U
Release date: September 2013
9. Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs
AAMFP is a survival horror game published by frictional games.  The game is a sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent.  Based in 1899 this game follows the character Oswald Mandus. It is expected to have a similar story line to the first amnesia from what we can see in trailers.  This is being anticipated as one of the scariest games of the year and if the first game is anything to go by I am sure this will be an amazing, yet terrifying game.
Platforms: PC Linux Mac
Release date: September 2013
8. Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
This is an action RPG game that combines a non linear story with a vast open multi-region world.  It is a free roam game with swords, bows and magic. Although this sounds great, what really seems exciting about this game is that the map is apparently the biggest living open world map ever, and CD Projekt RED has stated that the map is even 20% larger than Skyrim and will contain approximately 100 hours of main story gameplay. If all this is true it seems like this could be one of the surprise games of the year.
Platforms: PC Xbox One PS4.
Release date: TBA
7. Warface
The first FPS game in the list is Warface, a modern day shooter slightly different to games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield.  In this game you fight as part of an elite ex-military group called Warface, who must rise against and defeat a ruthless force named Blackwood. The story is playable as well in online or offline co-op. It also features an online versus mode with customisable and original classes. The beta for this game is already available and this game looks like it could be the first game of a successful series.
Platforms: PC Xbox 360
Release date: Autumn 2013
6. Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty
This is a modern re-creation of the 1997 hit PS1 and PC game, but now it’s in 720p. Just Add Water (the developers) have tried to keep some of the original game present but have changed some things, such as not separating rooms with screen flips. This game may be aimed at a slightly older audience but I’m sure that people who haven’t played the original will still love the game.
Release date: December 2013, TBA announced for next gen.
5. Prey 2
Another FPS this time with Prey 2, the sequel to the 2006 game Prey. You start the game as a U.S marshal in a plane which suddenly crashes. After some alien fight scenes and some story line animation you are a bounty hunter on the alien world Exodus.  Expect great graphics and an unusual story line in this underrated sci-fi FPS.
Platforms: PC PS3 Xbox 360
Release date: TBA
4. LocoCycle
This is the first and only driving based game of the article. Although you are on a bike most of the game it is not like other racers. The game will star I.R.I.S, a futuristic bike overloaded with weapons, made for assassination. It’s going to be interesting to see how this game works out with the combat and missions. Never the less this game seems to have thought of a new idea for games which can only be positive for twisted pixel games in the future if they keep these ideas coming.
Platforms: Xbox One Xbox 360 via XBLA
Release date: TBA
3. Wasteland 2
This upcoming post-apocalyptic role-playing game is the sequel to Wasteland released in 1988.After many years, InXile has finally brought out the sequel, which will come as a surprise to many. The story-line is set to deliver a game full of painful decisions to players and maximum re-playability for those who want to explore the depths of the game. You play as a group of rugged soldiers who acquire new survivalists as the game goes on.
Platforms: PC
Release date: Late 2013
2. Homefront 2
Peace is threatened and the world teeters on the brink of ruin once again in Homefront 2, the sequel to the hit first person shooter.  With Crytek now developing and publishing the game we wonder how different it will be to the first one. No story line or gameplay details have been revealed as yet but this is still a game you should anticipate buying because of the quality of the first one and also that Cytek may be putting a lot of money into the game as they got the rights off THQ for pretty cheap.
Platforms: Expected – PS3 PS4 Xbox 360 Xbox One PC
release date: TBA
1. The Division
Everybody loves a good Tom Clancy game and this first person shooter is looking to be one of the best yet. The division is based in a world where most of the population has been wiped out by a virus on black Friday. You are part of the organisation “The Division” who tried to stop the virus but failed and are now trying to clean up their city and find the people who started it all. Unlike other Tom Clancy games this is an open world RPG game meaning you can free roam and do missions when you like. There is also co-op missions on and offline and your friends can pop into your game whenever you like.
