Ratchet and Clank: Into The Nexus Coming This Holiday Exclusively For PS3

Ratchet and Clank: Into The Nexus, the latest entry in the popular Ratchet & Clank series, will be released during the 2013 holiday season exclusively for the PS3 according to a post from Insomniac Game’s James Stevenson on the PlayStation Blog. After experimenting with both cooperative and competitive multiplayer in the latest R&C games (All 4 One, Full Frontal Assault), the Insomniac team is going back to a more traditional single player focused adventure.

“We’re excited to announce that Ratchet and Clank are returning this year with an all new original single-player epilogue to the Future games. Under the creative direction of Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time creative director Brian Allgeier, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus is a story-driven platform adventure, with the humor and heart that make the franchise so beloved.” said Stevenson

The game will sport new unique weapons and gadgets, a trademark of the series, and will also have a focus on zero gravity to shake up the platforming and puzzle sections of the game.

The R&C franchise was one of the more popular and critically acclaimed games of the PS2 era. Its refreshing to see it have continued success into the current generation without having to sell its soul by dramatically altering the gameplay to appeal to modern tastes. R&C proves that the cartoony platforming games of old can still carve a niche out in the sea of hyper realistic shooters by making tweaks to keep the gameplay fresh while keeping things familiar enough to tug at our nostalgia. With the success of R&C and also Sly Cooper, perhaps other gone but not forgotten franchises can one day see the light of the newer generations.

Ratchet and Clank: Into The Nexus will available both at retail and digitally for the modest price of $29.99. If you’re interested in seeing some Ratchet and Clank: Into The Nexus for yourself, check out the trailer below.
