Injustice: Gods Among Us Wii U Version Delayed in UK

CVG, speaking with a representative for Warner Bros., confirmed that the Wii U version of their DC Comics slugfest, Injustice: Gods Among Us, has been delayed in UK territories. The Nintendo edition of the superhero (and villain) flavored fighter, from storied Mortal Kombat development team Netherrealm Studios, launches in North America on April 19th, while the UK  version uppercuts its way into retail stores the following week on the 26th. CVG was supplied with no reason for the regional delay.

Injustice: Gods Among Us’ combination of the DC license and the long development pedigree of Netherrealm has been drawing the attention of fighting game fans, hot on the heels of the studio’s last game, Mortal Kombat, and their previous DC licensed product, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. Both Injustice and Mortal Kombat featured prominently at last year’s Evolution Championship Series in Las Vegas, Nevada, where fighting game competitors from all over the world gather to compete in a variety of brawlers.

Injustice, which uses the same Unreal technology that powered the last Mortal Kombat, features a similar presentation to that game’s gore-spattered melee, albeit with much less graphic violence. At the same time, the new game will continue the trend, birthed by 2011’s Mortal Kombat and its super meters, toward reaching out to fans of Capcom and SNK-developed fighters by removing Netherrealm’s and Mortal Kombat’s signature block button in favor of pushing away from your opponent to guard against their onslaught, among other things.
