‘Company of Heroes 2’ Released Date Announced

SEGA, whom recently purchased THQ’s Company of Heroes IP during their first assets auction, has announced today that the already-worked-on Company of Heroes 2 title will release on June 25th, 2013 in both North America and Europe.

According to CVGCompany of Heroes 2 was originally meant to hit the shelves earlier on this year. The extended time was explained by Relic Entertainment, who said that it was to “help ‘Company of Heroes 2’ meet the high standard set by its predecessor.

“Our acquisition by Sega has given us the chance to work with a new partner that has a great track record of working with long standing PC franchises, It gives us great confidence to know that we have a well aligned team working to bring the best experience we can to gamers around the world,” commented Jonathan Dowdeswell, General Manager at Relic Entertainment. “

“We hate to disappoint our fans with a later than expected date as we know they are eager to play but we feel that the additional time will help the team deliver the high quality sequel fans deserve,” Greg Wilson, ‘Company of Heroes’ Producer, added.

However, the wait won’t be long as players will soon be able to help us test and balance multiplayer in the upcoming Closed Beta. Details will follow shortly.”

Personally, I feel it’s a good decision to delay Company of Heroes 2 for that bit longer, in order to improve it and possibly make it better than the previous Company of Heroes titles.

I wish Relic Entertainment all the best in Company of Heroes 2’s development. Stay tuned for news on the game’s upcoming Closed Beta!

Chirp to CVG.
