The official Pokemon Youtube account has posted a new trailer for the upcoming 3DS entries in the series, Pokemon X and Y. Those not familiar with Nintendo and Game Freak’s latest effort should set their faces to “stunned,” as this is the first main series Pokemon title to feature actual, honest to goodness polygonal graphics. Aside from the inclusion of these blasphemous visual triangles, the game looks to follow the age-old formula of Pokemon games of yore, in which your scrappy everyteen attempts to, ahem, ”catch them all”.

Turn-based monster battling aside, the trailer reminds us that the game also features a pokemon mount. This stallion among pocket monsters, called a Gogoat (!), can be ridden through the game’s cities, presumably because it is both amazing and totally sweet. Players can, along with this writer, expect to sample this radical advancement in saddle technology upon the game’s eventual release in October of this year.

Yesterday, Sony released a new downloadable content pack for the latest entry in the God of War series, God of War: Ascension. The dose of content, called Primordial Weapons, features new weapons and armor for the series’ extraordinarily angry anti-hero, Kratos.

God of War: Ascension is a prequel to the well-known series, and was met with mild befuddlement from players upon the release of its multiplayer beta late last year as they attempted to wrangle God of War’s trademark fluid, combo-heavy combat while simultaneously contending with live opponents. The series first foray into multiplayer gameplay features both competitive and cooperative play, and has been generally well-received in the press and by players who continue to log staggering amounts of time in its online arenas (to the tune of approximately 3.48 million hours played as detailed in this Sony infographic).

Players can find both the armor and weapon additions to the game’s arsenal on PSN for $2.99 each.

Speaking on company earnings call on the 13th of this month, the CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, reported that the studio currently has “groundbreaking new intellectual property” in the pipeline for next-generation consoles. The studio responsible for the ubiquitous Grand Theft Auto will look to supplement its considerable catalog of highly successful current-gen properties, which include the recent hit Bioshock: Infinite, co-op gun-hoarding/shooter series Borderlands, and one of the most highly regarded games of this generation in Grand Theft Auto IV (which itself is set to put a bow on current gen machines with its feverishly-desired sequel this September).

Take-Two’s only currently known “new” IP is Agent, which was hinted at in the ancient era of 2007 before being formally named at Sony’s E3 press conference in 2009. The studio is naturally tight-lipped about any further plans, but with a crucial, transitional E3 and the holiday season looming in the not-too-distant future, anxious fans will likely not have to wait long for a reveal of some sort.

I will continue my breath-holding vigil until the announcement of a Red Dead Redemption sequel.

Sony CFO Masaru Kato expects the PS4 to be a much more profitable console than the PS3, at least at launch according to recent statements at a earnings call this past week. ”Unlike PS3, we are not planning a major loss to be incurred with the launch of PS4,” said Kato. The PS3, because of its high development costs and high initial price point, struggled greatly at launch. Sony expects this time around to be different.

“At the time we developed PS3, we made a lot of in-house investments to develop the chip, the Cell chip. Development of the chip saw the silicon processing and all the facilities invested by us ourselves. But this time, yes we have a team working on chip development, but we already have existing technology to incorporate and also product investment and all the facilities will now be invested by our partners, other foundries, so we don’t have to make all the investment in-house.”

It seems that Sony learned its lesson with the PS3 launch and is making smarter business decisions this time around such as utilizing cheaper existing technology and relying more on external investments. What this means for gamers is that the PS4 is probably not going to launch for $599 U.S dollars. While Sony has yet to announce a price, by all indications the PS4 has been cheaper to develop than the PS3, and most likely it will launch at a competitive price somewhere in-between the Wii U and the PS3′s initial cost. We will likely learn more about the details of the PS4 launch at Sony’s E3 press conference on June 10th.

Source

Game Informer has announced that the magazine’s June edition is focused solely on bringing Playstation 4 coverage, starting with a 10 page feature on Sucker Punch’s highly anticipated game Infamous: Second Son – the good news does not stop there. The 30-page Playstation 4 cover story will also include new information and screens from titles like Destiny, Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall and DriveClub. They will discuss Media Molecule’s (the developers behind LittleBigPlanet) upcoming project, talk about Sony’s new indie agenda and even give us a hands-on impression of the Dualshock 4 controller.

What more could you ask for? Oh, that’s right. They have also gotten the chance to interview president of Sony Computer Entertainment, Shuhei Yoshida, so expect some even more great details. However, the star of the show remains to be Infamous: Second Son.

Check out the cover down below:

For those of you who have a digital subscription to Game Informer, the June issue is readily available to you via web browser, iOS and Android. If you have a print subscription expect your copy in the coming weeks. Until then, here’s some information about Second Son that Game Informer was so gracious to let out:

With Cole MacGrath out of the picture, the country is on high alert looking for other conduits. To deal with this perceived threat, the government has set up the oppressive Department of Unified Protection, and they’ve placed Seattle on lockdown. As new protagonist Delsin Rowe, players will be given more than enough opportunities to fight the power.

Additional info will be revealed as the month progresses.

Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment Shuhei Yoshida recently spoke to Japanese publication 4Gamer (via Push Square) about how Sony is making sure PS4 gamers consider the PS4 version of multiplatform games to be the best.

Allegedly, back in the day, the PlayStation 3 suffered a fair bit when it came to multiplatform games due to the console’s hardware. Because of the console’s inner complexity (most probably because of its CELL architecture, I’m told), developers had a hard time getting to grips with developing titles for the PlayStation 3, which apparently resulted in many iffy games during its lifetime – despite it being (according to word of mouth) the better console.

It’s already known that the PS4 has a different architecture compared to the PS3 (that different architecture is more developer-friendly), and Yoshida considers this change important because he wants the PS4 versions of multiplatform games to be considered the best.

“We need to make sure users consider the PS4 version to be the best and the one that they want to play,” he told 4Gamer. “That might mean that the graphics are better, the controller is more comfortable, or the point I mentioned earlier about the console being more user-friendly, like you don’t have to turn the power on and off or you can switch between your game and Netflix at will.”

Yoshida allegedly believes that user-friendliness for the PlayStation 4 is going to be just as important in the next Console War.

“On portable smartphones and tablets, you can start playing as soon as you want to and quit whenever you like. PS4 will be a home console that can do that too.”

Granted the PS4 has rather monstrous specs. compared to its predecessor, it’s quite possible that the PlayStation 4 version of multiplatform games could be the one that comes out on top. Sony seem to be actively trying to make sure that this is the case, and it’s good to hear that they’re going to push how PS4 titles will look when compared to different versions of it.

However, with Microsoft’s special unveiling happening within a couple of weeks, the PS4 might be trumped by whatever could be revealed on the date – hopefully the expected next Xbox. Since I believe nothing is really 100% certain about the next Xbox, the consoles hardware may turn out to be superior to the PlayStation 4′s.

If I may be so honest, though, I don’t think that’ll be probably. I don’t necessarily have full knowledge of rumours circulating the next Xbox’s hardware, so what I’m saying is entirely subjective and speculative, but I don’t think the console’s CPU or memory will match the PS4′s. That’s just me, though. I hope to be proven wrong on May 21st, but Microsoft have a lot to say for themselves.

Do you think the PS4 version of multiplatform games will be the best one out of the lot? Let us know in the comments!

Rumors have been circulating for months about the Xbox 720, codenamed Durango, that it would utilize always-online DRM seen in games such as Diablo 3 and Sim City, in order to block gamers from playing used games and requiring them to be always online in order to operate the basic functions of the console.

However, according to industry analyst Michael Pachter, this will not be the case. In an interview with Forbes, Pachter made his opinion very clear: “I don’t think Microsoft has the balls to block used games, and I want you to quote me on that,” said Pachter. “Microsoft would alienate 30 percent of their audience by doing that and Sony would step in and exploit that by saying, ‘We’re not blocking used games.’”

It is possible that Microsoft originally intended to have the Durango be online only but pulled the plug because of the negative feedback it has received in the months since the rumor broke out. The Xbox 360, was able to grab a sizable market share from Sony this past generation, essentially drawing even with Sony worldwide. It would be a bold move on Microsoft’s part to block gamers from playing offline and could serve as a rallying call for Sony to restore their former PS2 dominance.

In addition, Pachter is very optimistic about the potential of the day 1 Kinect peripheral which has been rumored to be built into the next Xbox. “The new Xbox Kinect will have limitless possibilities,” said Pachter. “It’s like having a laptop with a camera on the monitor and a microphone and you have all that built into the Xbox. It will be able to do anything PC can do, except for Microsoft Office.”

With graphics becoming less of a factor with each passing generation, companies like Microsoft and Sony need to offer other services and features to entice customers. Sony has been very excited to talk about the DualShock 4 and all of its new features such as the share button, which allows gamers to upload videos and screenshots of their gameplay. According to Pachter it seems as though the next Kinect will be one of the major draws for the next Xbox.

Well, well, well. With 14 more days to go until Microsoft’s special unveiling, and what with all the rumours flying around the company’s next Xbox (colloquially known as the Xbox 720), there’s another additional rumour kicking about – one which contradicts what I’ve come to know.

I already know that games for the Xbox 720 won’t be always-on unless publishers say so, which is alright if proven true, but that particular rumour only concerns the games. This rumour, however, concerns the actual console itself.

According to Ars Technica, Microsoft allegedly sent an internal email to all full-time staff working on the Xbox 720. The email’s contents suggests that the console actually won’t require an always-on connection order to work. The email is as follows:

“Durango (the next Xbox’s codename) is designed to deliver the future of entertainment while engineered to be tolerant of today’s Internet. There are a number of scenarios that our users expect to work without an Internet connection, and those should ‘just work’ regardless of their current connection status. Those include, but are not limited to: playing a Blu-ray disc, watching live TV, and yes playing a single player game.”

Hoo-ray! It seems that some sense may have been finally knocked into the bigwigs at Microsoft. However, like any and all rumours – despite how convincing they may be – they are only rumours until officially confirmed otherwise. Are Microsoft trying to win some support back after the amount of backlash they have gotten? Possibly – that’s how I see it. Could it be too little too late? Even more possible, but I think no-one will truly be sure until May 21st.

I’ll try to stay optimistic about Microsoft, and they might surprise gamers during their reveal. Untill then, however, nothing is really absolute.

So, let’s take a hypothetical: if the console doesn’t require any internet at all to even function, it’d probably work like the Xbox 360 does – which is what I’ve fundamentally wanted from the Xbox 720, just with go faster stripes. Ars Technica proposed the same idea. They also came up with a comparison to Valve’s Steam client, where internet is required to install games and updates etc. but – once finished – enables an offline mode so gamers can still play their games.

If either one of the hypothetical outcomes become true, I’ll certainly be a lot happier with the Xbox 720. Preferably I want the former, but I would be okay with the latter.

Like, if the possibility of publishers/developers releasing games that require an internet connection for a one-time authentication becomes true, I’d be okay with that. I’d also be okay with the Xbox 720 console requiring an internet connection for something similar – for software updates, game installations, etc. – because I assume it’ll only take five to 10 minutes of internet usage to do so. After that, the console should have an offline mode so it could be used normally without an internet connection. That’s what I’d ideally like to happen.

How do you feel about the next Xbox supposedly not requiring an always-on internet connection to work? Let us know in the comments!

Yesterday, EA’s Frank Gibeau (President of EA Labels) announced in a press release that Disney has chosen EA to “create new ‘Star Wars’ experiences for gamers worldwide.” Other sources say that Disney and EA have arranged a new multi-year exclusive licensing deal.

EA’s agreement with Disney will apparently bring forward a whole new future of Star Wars games to the table – specifically to core gamers.

Before gamers and Star Wars fans alike think that EA will be the ones calling the shots, allegedly they won’t be – for the most part anyway. Disney will still have the rights to develop and publish titles in the “mobile, social, tablet and online game categories.” So, even though the EA press release states that Star Wars games will be coming to tablets and mobiles, it’ll be Disney who will be the ones developing Star Wars games for those platforms, I believe.

The press release didn’t detail any specific titles like Star Wars 1313 or any other game, which is concerning because ever since Lucas Arts’ closure back in April the status of that game – though hopeful – has still been left in the air, at least when I last checked.

What press release did detail, however, is that the developers that will be involved with future Star Wars titles (DICE, Visceral and BioWare) are allegedly already coming up with ideas. Fundamentally, these developers will make Star Wars games with original stories, but aspects of the stories themselves may borrow from the films.

To top it off, all future Star Wars games will apparently be powered by the Frostbite 3 engine, which will “guaranteeing incredible graphic fidelity, environments and characters.”

The press release ended with saying, “we have lots of ideas, but we want to hear from you. Tell us what kind of games you want to play. Send us your suggestions and tag @EA_DICE @VisceralGames @BioWare and #starwarsnextgen.”

Now that I have had time to calm and collect my thoughts, however, I’ve concluded that even though the developers involved have quite the pedigree I still don’t really trust EA to not interfere with development in someway. I don’t really trust Disney with it either, if I’m honest.

So, if EA has made an agreement for exclusivity over the Star Wars franchise, I’m assuming that Disney’s licensing model can’t give out any more licenses – since EA and Disney have arranged exclusivity. If that turns out to be the case in its entirety, then other developers (like Obsidian Entertainment) may not get a chance to develop a Star Wars games of their own.

Let’s step away from cynicism for a second and look at what positives could come from this.

So, we have DICE, Visceral and BioWare working on the next Star Wars games (whom have Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic respectively). Based on those three examples, I can playfully imagine what title development could go to who: Star Wars: Republic Commando 2, Star Wars: Scary, Mutilated Aliens Edition and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3.

Okay, so Star Wars: Scary, Mutilated Aliens Edition is maybe more than a stretch, but regardless of that there could be some positivity to anticipate from these three developers – assuming EA doesn’t interfere and cut out story-essential content and sell it separately, and implement microtransactions, but that’s just me being a bit bitter.

How do you feel about EA getting exclusivity over the ‘Star Wars’ franchise? Let us know in the comments!

When Mark Cerny (PS4′s lead system architect) revealed the PS4′s DualShock 4 controller back in February, there was one thing that confused me the most about the new controller: the curious blue light bar at the controllers top.

As it turns out, the new controller itself has had quite a journey to become the one gamers saw during the PS4 announcement, the light bar included.

Shuhei Yoshida (Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment) spoke to EDGE recently (May 1st) and explained – amongst other things – how the DualShock 4′s light bar came to be and how functions.

Yoshida explained that the controller’s design had a few years of iterating before it became the one seen during the PS4 announcement. He didn’t say exactly just how many prototypes of the controller there have been, but I’m interpreting him to imply that there was quite a number of them (considering it allegedly took a few years to decide on the one they wanted).

“In the earlier stages it could be just a device, like a naked PC board connected to a PC, to just try out new sensors, for example. Or just devices put together by hand by the R&D (Research and Development) team. You know SCE (Sony Computer Entertainment) have very unique, interesting hardware prototyping people who put together some new devices to create interesting input devices,” Yoshida said.

“So these are handmade and given to a small number of people, to teams who are interested to try them out. It was more than a couple of years we continued iterating. After trying out many different options and devices available, we came back [to the decision] that this is a form that works.”

The light bar of the controller was something coined – Yoshida thinks – by Richard Marks’ group, who allegedly helped develop the PlayStation Move. Sony Computer Entertainment International apparently wanted a smarter way of identifying the player, so the use of a full-colour LED bar came up – compared to the DualShock 3′s LED numbers (because apparently ’1′, ’2′, ’3′ and ’4′ “looked a bit odd.”

“It’s just a different way of identifying the player. In terms of using the LED [as in the Dualshock 3, with] numbers like 1, 2, 3 and 4, it looked a bit odd. The SCEI people wanted some smarter way of doing it, and the use of a full-colour LED came up.”

Yoshida then went on to example how developers could incorporate the light bar to be used in games: the light bar could change colour depending on the player’s health. Yoshida used Guerrilla Games’ Killzone: Shadow Fall as an example of this concept.

“So it has a dual – or it could be a triple – role because game designers could use it for some effect. Like when [players are] losing HP, the colour could change from green to red. Like in the ‘Killzone’ demo, if you were watching Steven playing, [that game] has that function already.” he said.

“People were watching the main screen, but Steven (the guy playing the demo) was facing the audience, showing how the light bar colour changes as he was hit by the enemy; as he lost hit points the colour was changing from green to red. And when he used the health replenishment, it went back to green.”

Unfortunately, I didn’t see the light bar changing colour during the live reveal, but the concept nonetheless does sound very helpful. “Sound” very helpful.

After looking closely to a few press images of the controller, I’ve figured that the light bar isn’t quite in such a strategic place.

Coming from my perspective; let me set the scene of why I think this. If I were to use the DualShock 4 for regular gaming, I would use it like any other controller: hunched, and leaning forward a bit. At the time of writing I’m using an old DualShock 2 and I’m sitting as described, controller in hand.

Since the DualShock 2 is the closest thing I have to a DualShock 4, I am assuming the general geometry of both controllers isn’t all that different (which it doesn’t appear to be anyway).

So, I’m sitting with the controller in hand (like I would when gaming) and I cannot see the top of the controller without tilting it. So, to me, what purpose does it serve? Well, aside from it being an apparently possible PlayStation Move successor, nothing really.

When in the heat of a gunfight, the last thing I’m going to do is pause the game and tilt the controller up to see how much health I have left – there’s a HUD for that.

The couple of situations that I can think of where this gimmick would be useful – to me – would be if I was gaming with no lights on and the light bar was the only illumination in the room – aside from the TV; and if I was gaming with friends and I needed to see what colour they were to identify what player they were (e.g. blue = player #1, magenta = player #2, etc.). However, because of the geometry of the DualShock 4, I wouldn’t be able to see their colour without leaning over to see it anyway.

Perhaps I’m being too cynical about it too soon. I should just probably wait until I can try the controller out for myself physically before I make such harsh judgements in the future.

What do you think about the DualShock 4 being used like it was in ‘Killzone: Shadow Fall’? Let us know in the comments!

Community Developer for Ubisoft, Nik Schmidt posted up on Playstation’s Official Blog yesterday the first episode of Sony’s “Conversations with Creators,” an ongoing series that focuses on some of the worlds most prestigious game studios as they talk about their experience with PS4 game development.

In this episode, Sony zeros in on Watch Dogs, Ubisofts open-world action-adventure game arriving in stores on the 19th of November, this year.

Check out the video down below.

Following the video was a statement from Schmidt:

By working in close collaboration with PlayStation, the team is working to harness the full power of the PS4. This gives them the opportunity to create a truly no-compromises experience with high-resolution environment textures and advanced special effects. The game experience, much like the city you’ll get to play in, will be rich, deep, and detailed.

As Jonathan and Dominic explain in the video, connectivity is at the heart of the Watch_Dogs experience. We already know Aiden is connected to his own environment, but we also want to give the players new and different ways to connect with each other, and working with PlayStation makes this possible.

In the end, we want to let you experience what it truly feels like to be in a hyper-connected world, whether it be in single player, multiplayer, at home, or even on the go.

Be sure to check back on over to The Gamers Drop for the next developer diary on “Conversations with Creators.”

It has been three years since Square Enix released Final Fantasy 14, the highly anticipated MMO that turned out to be a colossal let down. This led to the development of Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, which essentially is a relaunch of the original game. And though the official release date has yet to be announced, Square has narrowed the window by confirming a summer 2013 release.

Same as the original version, Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is an MMO that will be available on both PC and PS3.

The game is set to be entering its third and final round of closed beta testing next month, and it will include PS3 players for the first time, allowing them to explore the game’s world alongside PC owners due to its cross-platform functionality. The beta will also open up two new city states: Ul’dah and Limsa Lominsa.

You can sign up for the beta on Square Enix’s website.

Final Fantasy 14 producer Naiko Yoshida said that a rebirth of the game is necessary to help gamer’s regain trust in the Final Fantasy brand.

“Losing your fans’ trust is very easy thing to do. Regaining it is very hard,” Yoshida said. “We believe Final Fantasy 14 is a starting point, and that players joining us will think ‘oh wow, this is great, I’ll see what they can do with Final Fantasy 15 or 16′.

Ubisoft has confirmed to VideoGamer earlier this week that South Park: The Stick of Truth is still on track for a 2013 release.

VideoGamer queried Ubisoft about the games current state after noticing that the title didn’t appear in Ubisoft’s allegedly most recent media update released on Monday.

A Ubisoft spokesperson responed to the query and told VG that they had no further updates on the game’s status, and that the game itself is still “scheduled for release in calendar 2013.”

Apparently this game was due for release this month, but that was back when it was still under THQ’s wing. Understandably, the game’s release has been delayed due to its acquisition by Ubisoft from THQ’s final IP auction – a purchase of $3.2 million, allegedly. The game’s status has been apparently quiet ever since its acquisition, at least until VG asked about it.

I’m not surprised that this was in the dark, because I’ve only ever heard very little of South Park: The Stick of Truth. Then again, I wasn’t exactly keeping tabs on this title.

Obsidian Entertainment, South Park: The Stick of Truth’s developer, is collaborating with South Park’s creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, most probably to ensure South Park: The Stick of Truth is as authentic and respectful as possible to the TV series.

I’ll be honest: I have no idea what to expect from this game. It’s sure going to be fun finding out, though.

Are you glad to year that ‘South Park: The Stick of Truth’ is still on schedule for a 2013 release? Let us know in the comments!

Bigwig publisher Ubisoft’s next-gen title Watch Dogs is said to hit the shelves in November; November 19th for the US and November 22nd for the UK. At least, those are the dates for the game launching on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC – according to Develop.

As for a PlayStation 4 version: Ubisoft has confirmed that Watch Dogs will come to the PS4 when the console is launched later this year.

Additionally, Ubisoft have promised exlusive PS4 DLC containing 60 minutes of extra gameplay.

Madass Gamers found out recently that the PlayStation 3 version of Watch Dogs will have exclusive 60 minutes of extra content included in it. What Madass wasn’t clear of was whether or not the same content will be coming to the PS4.

“We can confirm that customers who will purchase ‘Watch Dogs’ on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 will be able to download the 60 minutes of additional gameplay via the PlayStation Network after the game’s launch,” Ubisoft comfirmed.

From my understanding: both versions of Watch_Dogs – PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 – will have 60 minutes of exclusive extra content that can be downloaded from the PlayStation Network after the game’s launch. However, even though Madass has said the PS3 version will have the extra content already included, Ubisoft says that gamers will be able to download the extra content for both versions. This is most probably my lack of understating, but that just doesn’t quite make sense to me.

To me this implies that Watch Dogs will be launched as a base game, with DLC available on demand. My question is: will that DLC be available for free or for purchase?

My overall worry is that Ubisoft may do what EA have been accused of doing with Mass Effext 3, that being cutting out story-essential content and selling it separately.

How I think it may end up being is the PlayStation 3 version will come with the content included (as Madass has said) and the same content will be available for the PS4 post-launch for free.

Since Ubisoft Montreal has said that Watch_Dogs will be improved overall for the PS4, perhaps maybe the extra content has no choice but to be DLC – because with the improvements UbiMontreal have said there might not be enough memory on the game’s disc to facilitate the extra content.

That just may be me being hopelessly optimistic of course. If Ubisoft do turn out to be doing what EA has been accused of doing, then bad Ubisoft, bad; you won’t get my money if that turns out to be the case.

Will you buy ‘Watch_Dogs’ for the PS3/PS4 in order to play the extra content, free or otherwise? Let us know in the comments!

Quantic Dream’s co-CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere spoke with GameSpot recently at the Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend past. Fondaumiere said that the studio is seeing a “big difference” with the PlayStation 4 over the PlayStation 3 during tests for its currently in-development PS4 game.

“We are already seeing in the first PS4 tests that we’re doing a big difference,” he said.

He continued to explain what Quantic Dream’s goal is concerning new technology. As it allegedly has always been, Quantic’s goal is to “capture the realistic and authentic performances as possible”. He added that this approach will put across believable characters in the end product.

During the PlayStation 4′s February reveal, Quantic’s founder David Cage revealed, what I like to call, “The Old Man” tech demo. The demo itself was running on Quantic’s brand new next-gen engine, which was stated at the time to be ready to develope next-gen titles.

It’s also the first photorealistic demonstration in recent memory that – to me – didn’t fall into Uncanny Valley territory. Fondaumiere confirmed that the demo was a “first glimpse” of what the PlayStation 4′s technology is alegedly capable of rendering.

Quantic Dream’s eye for the future does seem quite ambitious, but Fondaumiere admits that the PlayStation 4 has limitations.

“There are limitations on the PlayStation 3 and there will be limitations on PlayStation 4,” he said. “With the PlayStation 4, it’s something that really is more like the PC of next year or two years.”

It certainly sounds promising to hear that the hardware of the PS4 will powerful, enough to make an apparent immediate difference between the PS3. I mean, of course it would: the PS4 is (or near enough) 7.5x greater than the PS3 in terms of its graphical power, according to my calculations.

Will it be the PC of 2014/2015, however? Possibly, but not for very long I think. That’s just me having a slight PC bias, though. My thoughts may change once the console is finally released and I’m able to try one out. Here’s hoping it turns out how it’s been hyped up to be!

How do you feel about Quantic Dream pushing on with the PlayStation 4′s technology? Let us know in the comments!
