Fans are expecting a massive update to arrive for Pokemon GO within the following weeks, one that will add about a hundred new Pokemon to the game.
If that’s true, then that means managing a player’s Pokemon is going to become a lot more cumbersome and time consuming, especially when you need to transfer a bunch of Pokemon to the Professor to rack up some candy.
Or at least that would be the case if it wasn’t for the fact that Niantic recently pushed a new update that allows players to transfer more than one Pokemon at a time.
Pokemon GO Transfer Update
In a recent post on their website, Niantic announced update 0.49.1 for Android and 1.19.1 for iOS for Pokemon GO which contains the following changes:
- Trainers will be able to transfer multiple Pokémon at a time to Professor Willow. To use this function, press and hold on a Pokémon.
- Pokémon type icons have been added to the Gym battle approach and Gym battle screen.
- The total Candy count for your Buddy Pokémon has been added to the buddy information screen.
- The total kilometers a buddy has walked has been added to the information screen of each Pokémon that has ever been your buddy.
- Minor text fixes.
Of course, the most standout feature is the first bullet point — players will now be able to transfer multiple Pokemon at once.
How to Transfer Multiple Pokemon
As explained in the changelog, accessing the new feature is easy. Simply touch and hold one of the Pokemon you want to transfer instead of just tapping it.
After a few seconds the Pokemon will highlight and now you’ll be able to touch any other Pokemon that you want to transfer.
Once you’ve selected all the Pokemon you want to transfer, just touch the Transfer button and that should be it.
This is, of course, a huge improvement from the previous system where players would have to transfer Pokemon one at a time. Meaning they’d have to go through the loop of selecting a Pokemon, selecting the Transfer option, and even clicking the Yes button several times.
This update is most likely to prepare players for the arrival of Gen 2 Pokemon. The addition of about a hundred new Pokemon would have made managing them a hassle without this update.
Expect a major update to arrive in Pokemon GO within the next few weeks.
