The AMD Zen new range of processors are set to release in 2017 as per sources. If these rumors turn out to be true, these could be among the best in the market right now. These processors will compete with Intel’s latest Core i7 processors with regard to speed.
AMD Zen Price
The AMD Zen new processor range will help the company regain market share in the CPU segment. Tech Times reports that the AMD Zen SR7 8 core processor will be launched in early 2017 for desktop users. This is reportedly set to be priced at $499.
This AMD Zen processor will easily outstrip the Intel 8 core i7 5960X as per estimates. It will have 3.5 GHz of clock speed which is really impressive. The fastest Core i7 processor from Intel is the 5960X which retails close to $1, 000.
AMD will be able to undercut Intel’s pricing by almost half which will definitely eat up Intel’s revenues. There will be at least three AMD Zen processors in 2017 as per sources. Another SR7 processor may be sold for $349 with a slightly lower clock speed.
Other AMD launches in the pipeline
The SR5 and SR3 are also set to be launched in March 2017. These will be low end processors priced lower than the Intel Core i3 Kaby Lake range. AMD is also planning its Vega GPU range at comparatively affordable prices for gamers.
Game N Guide also reports that the new AMD Zen based Summit Ridge CPUs will be launched next year. AMD has reportedly confirmed that limited shipments of these processors will be available before the end of 2016.
Company CEO Lisa Su has also talked of how AMD has focused more on servers for the first half of 2017. However, the company will be using these limited shipments for testing. Consumer launches should commence from early 2017.
