It was one of the most talked about WWE news when Bill Goldberg dominated and defeated Brock Lesnar in under three minutes during the WWE Survivor Series. While some are still in shock and awe, others have formulated theory after theory on why the outcome was as such.
CEO and Chairman of WWE, Vince McMahon is rumored to have staged the outcome of the match in favor of Goldberg. There are quite a number of interesting points as to why Goldberg was decided to be the victor of the night.
For those who have yet to watch the match, Goldberg finished Lesnar in the very first round in under three minutes. After one Spear, the 49-year old wrestler followed it with another Spear. After the two immediate attacks, Lesnar seemed to have broken his right rib and could not stand up. This opened the door for Goldberg to finish up the 39-year old fan favorite. Goldberg’s finishing move was a Jackhammer that got Lesnar pinned and tapping out.
WWE News: Why Goldberg Won
Survivor Series 2016 was clearly about Bill Goldberg’s comeback. After 12 years out of the ring, the well-remembered and highly loved wrestler returns again. This, on its own, could earn WWE more money and viewership.
But it has been somewhat of a genius plan to face off the two wrestlers again after their 2004 encounter. Lesnar was then no match to Goldberg who beat him cold to the ground.
Fans expected The Beast vs Goldberg part two to be a lengthy beat up with both taking turns. However, due to a rumored tweaked shoulder of Goldberg, the match had to be cut shorter. In addition, him winning was said to be decided by McMahon as a great re-introduction for the veteran who will be participating in the Royal Rumble 2017.
After he is re-established as a dominant power in WWE,it is said that he will then be facing the twice defeated contender. According to several reports, a Lesnar versus Goldberg part three will be happening during Wrestlemania 33 where the younger man might be able to break Goldberg’s win streak against him.
