Football fans rejoice as EA is offering PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners a free weekend to try out FIFA 17, with just a few strings attached.
On their official website, EA announced that FIFA 17 would be free to play from November 24 to 27.
To be precise, this is what they had to say:
During the FIFA 17 Free Trial you’ll be able to play the full game** this weekend on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Experience acclaimed new story mode The Journey, FIFA Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and more.
Wondering what those two asterisks are for? Well, that’s because there’s still a few ground rules set for this event.
FIFA 17 Free to Play Weekend
Both PlayStation 4 and Xbox Owners have a few stipulations that they have to adhere to during this promo, with Xbox One owners having a few extra as well.
For both consoles, the all-in game features will be available but players will only be able to play a portion of The Journey — the game’s new story mode. If players want to continue progressing through The Journey, they’ll have to purchase the full game.
In addition to that, any remaining FIFA points purchased during the trial will not be refunded. But players can continue to use any leftover points by, once again, purchasing the full game.
The Xbox One has a few extra rules set.
For the Xbox One, the fine print explicitly states that the free trial will only last for 10 hours of play time. This condition is missing from the PS4 message, so it is uncertain if this applies to both or just the Xbox One.
Likewise, EA Access subscribers that tried out the game during the pre-release are ineligible for this promo. The full game is reportedly 42GB in size. It’s also currently on sale at several outlets in celebration of Black Friday.
The free weekend will start on November 24, 10AM PST and end on November 27, 11:59 PST.
