Fans of the Uncharted series have been asking for a co-op mode for the latest entry in the franchise for quite a while now. Well it seems Naughty Dog was listening. Earlier today, they announced that a co-op survival mode is coming to Uncharted 4.
Uncharted 4: Survival is an upcoming cooperative and solo mode. In this game type, players will have to fight waves of enemies while at the same time completing various objectives.
Fans of the multiplayer in the older games will find familiar ground with the new mode. As the official post on PlayStation’s blog puts it:
If you played Co-Op Arena from Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3, you’re going to feel right at home in Survival.
So loyal fans of the series are definitely in for a treat.
Uncharted 4 Introduces Cooperative Mode
The mode in question contains 50 waves across 10 different maps. During each wave players will have to fend off enemies that get progressively stronger. These enemies come in the form of Brutes, Snipers, Hunters, and other different enemy types.
Every 10 waves will then have a boss battle of sorts with new Pirate Warlords. One of which is the image used for this article above.
However these aren’t the only challenges that Survival mode brings. Certain waves will also have extra objectives for the player to complete. Some of which were demonstrated in the trailer above, such as having to collect treasure scattered across the map.
Completing objectives and defeating enemies will reward the player with cash. The player can then spend the cash to purchase weapon and gear upgrades to better help them survive the endless onslaught.
The new game mode will arrive around mid-December based on the trailer and blog post. Those that can’t wait can try out the game mode early at PlayStation Experience next week.
More details on the upcoming mode can be found on their official post here.
Like all multiplayer DLC for Uncharted 4, the Survival mode update should be a free download for all owners of the game.
