MLB Yankees rumors are spreading thick and fast about a possible trade. The Yankees are reportedly looking to trade Chase Headley and Bred Gardner. There are rumors of the duo being traded soon.
MLB Yankees Rumors reveal that the Yankees are open to trading Headley. CSN reports that Headley has $26 million and two years remaining on his contract. His below par performance is likely to be the reason for this trade. NBC Sports also reports that Headley and the Yankees will both benefit from this deal.
This is because of the relatively weak market for free agents according to MLB Yankees Rumors. Justin Turner is the best bet when it comes to available third basemen. The likes of Andres Blanco, Ruben Tejada, and Luis Valbuena come after that.
Several teams will be more inclined towards buying a third baseman. Headley hit 14 home runs and 51 RBI. He has stats of .253/.331/.385 and did bounce back towards the end of the season. There are reports of Bred Gardner being traded by the Yankees as well.
Why the Houston Astros Are Interested
The Houston Astros may look to buy Gardener. The Yankees are inclined towards dealing with the Astros as per rumors. Gardner recently won the 2016 Gold Glove for defensive prowess. Gardner notched up .713 OPS in the season in spite of his .351 OBP. These below par stats are reportedly making the Yankees consider a deal for him.
Will the two players be traded? Experts certainly seem to think so. The Yankees will look to get the maximum value for both Gardner and Headley. Headley, however, stands a chance of getting a better deal than Gardener as per sources.
It is not known yet as to which teams are interested in snapping up Headley. However, the Yankees are open to all offers as per reports.
