Kate Upton turns to Twitter to lash out on MLB after fiance and baseball star Justin Verlander loses Cy Young Best Pitcher Award.
The Sports Illustrated model also complained about how Rick Porcello of the Boston Red Sox only received eight-point first place votes. Meanwhile, Verlander of the Detroit Tigers got 14 first place votes.
Kate Upton started a series of heated tweets to MLB’s official Twitter account.
”Hey @MLB I thought I was the only person allowed to f**k @JustinVerlander ?! What 2 writers didn’t have him on their ballot?” Upton said in her tweet.
In addition, the supermodel accused MLB of choosing the wrong writers to take the votes. Kate Upton refers to sportswriters Fred Goodall (The Associated Press) and Bill Chastain (MLB.com).
She continued to tweet, this time addressed to Porcello. Upton told him that he didn’t win because he didn’t get the most number of first place votes.
Rick Porcello to Kate Upton: I Don’t Care
In an interview with ESPN, Rick Porcello says he doesn’t care about Kate Upton’s fiery tweets.
“I honestly don’t care,” Porcello said in a report by Fox News. “I’ve got a lot of people around me right now that I love very much and are instrumental in my success. And on top of that, we’ve got some really good bottles of wine that need to be drank.”
The voting process of the Cy Young Awards was conducted by the Baseball Writers Association of America. In the voting process, each writer writes down their top 5 best pitchers in order. The two writers Kate Upton referred to did not put Verlander anywhere on their list of top 5 pitchers.
Among the three qualified pitchers for the Cy Young Awards (Verlander, Porcello, and Corey Kluber), Verlander has the lowest ERA 0f 3.04. Verlander also threw the most innings with 227²/₃.
