2016 is coming to a close, and gamers are now handing out their lists. It’s time to unveil the candidates of the prestigious Game Awards 2016. Candidates this year come from different developers and publishers. In fact, the inclusion of some fan-favorites had made the affair difficult from one category to the next.
Contenders for this year’s Game Awards 2016 are proving to be very hard to choose from. Categories range from the most coveted Game of the Year to more specific categories including Best Game Direction, Narrative, and Design.

GAME OF THE YEAR
The three games below have generated more than enough buzz to get attention. Overwatch‘s rise to fandom after its release is proof enough of Blizzard’s brilliance.

Both Overwatch and Battlefield 1 have almost practically redefined their genres. Overwatch generated character lores enough for people to stay devoted to favorites. Meanwhile, Battlefield 1 revolutionized historical gaming as we know it.

Mafia 3 and its story of revenge in a city that almost moves through time with the player is ecstatic. The number of side quests that do not seem like side quests makes the game appear like a story in itself.

The character designs in Overwatch are just too spectacular to ignore. The sheer creativity in manipulating futuristic concepts has made for such great environments and characters.

Blizzard has been doing quite a lot of damage control with Legion. However, its introduction of new classes along with its compelling narrative is proving quite the game-changer. The Witcher 3, despite its small setting, is proving that the narrative is all about direction.

MOST ANTICIPATED GAME
The two games below have generated quite the buzz ever since the release of their predecessors. However, fans have proven worthy enough for the wait, and they are thus rewarded.

The two games in here are sadly unavailable for play. However, the efforts of their creators have to be acknowledged, especially since Pokemon Uranium took nine years to build.

Game Awards 2016: Redefining Gaming
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End currently leads the list of games with an outstanding eight categories of nominations. However, the game meets a lot of competition especially for the coveted Game of the Year. Competitors include Doom, Overwatch and Titanfall 2.
These games also received multiple nominations. For instance Inside, Overwatch and Firewatch had five nominatons. All of them are up for the Best Art Direction as wel. Meanwhile, Titanfall 2, Doom and Battlefield 1 have four nomination, including Best Action Game.
Judges from at least 29 international publications have selected the nominees for this year’s Game Awards 2016. Eight e-sports outlets also assisted in the selection for the e-sports categories.
Games will have to be released on or before November 24, 2016 in order to be qualified as a nominee. This means upcoming titles such as Final Fantasy 15 or The Last Guardian cannot be part of the list. This also means that entrants released after November 24, 2015 are qualified for this year’s awards.
The Game Awards 2015 will be held on December 1 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Various publications will be livestreaming for a variety of devices and platforms. Meanwhile, the pre-show will begin at 8:30PM ET before the event at 9PM.
