It may be a dark season for Matt Murdock in Daredevil Season 3. Dark humor aside, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is in big trouble as Marvel reveals a death.
Or sort of. Charlie Cox has alarmed quite a lot of fans after revealing that no character is safe in the hands of Marvel executives. This is after quite the gruesome deaths during his tenure as Daredevil in the popular Netflix series.
One of the most shocking deaths in the series is the fatal beating of reporter Ben Ulrich at the hands of the Kingpin. Charlie Cox told Screen Geek that this was Marvel’s way of telling fans that Daredevil is never a safe place.
This implies a rather George R. R. Martin maneuver. The popular author is known for his rather merciless attitude towards his characters in the A Song of Ice and Fire series (adapted as Game of Thrones).
The Daredevil comics is indeed part of Marvel’s much darker sets of stories. This is set in the crime-ridden Hell’s Kitchen, where superheroes rarely visit and the affairs of the many are left unchecked. Matt Murdock is the blind crime fighter Daredevil who uses his superhuman senses to exact justice against evildoers.
Daredevil Season 3: Taking the Mantle?
The news is especially alarming during the arrival of the Defenders. The new series is an 8-episode limited series that stars Cox and his other companions from other Netflix shows. Krysten Ritter will be the superhuman Jessica Jones and Mike Colter will be the invincible Luke Cage. Meanwhile, Elodie Yung will reprise her role as the assassin Elektra.
Sigourney Weaver, most popular for Aliens will have a very important (yet unrevealed) role.
Meanwhile, recurring characters such as Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Trish Walker (Rachel Taylor), Stick (Scott Glenn), Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Malcolm (Eka Darville) and Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Ann Moss) will return for the series.
