Fans know that Bethesda Softworks currently has two games on its slate. However, talks make it appear Fallout 5 will be here sooner than we think.
Development team Obsidian Entertainment expressed their desire to work on another Fallout project after their successful stint. Their last three games, Fallout 4, Fallout 4 and Fallout New Vegas have won multiple Game of the Year Awards.
It appears they shouldn’t be stopping there. Obsidian project director Brian Heins, CEO Feargus Urquhart, and original producer Tim Cain told Reddit that they would love to work on another game.
However, fans may be disappointed to hear that they’re not working on another Fallout game as of this moment. This is an important phrase, of this moment” means they’re not contacted to make another game. With rumors abound for another setting for the game, it seems there will be more speculations than answers.
Fallout 5: New Orleans?
The Fallout franchise is set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a nuclear war. The protagonist sets off from one of the safe “Vaults” to find his or her destiny. Similar to other Bethesda mainstay The Elder Scrolls, players carve their own destiny in the open world.
Much of the Fallout games are set in the United States. The most recent iteration is in fact set in Boston and Washington D.C. This is why players are starting to speculate where the next game may actually take place.
Which may not appear too hard to guess. Bethesda Softworks appears to have trademarked a Fallout: New Orleans back in September. Sadly, not much could be gathered from the European Union Intellectual Property Office. However, it is enough to start speculation that the game will have a completely different setting.
Players may expect things like another sequel, or maybe this time a jump back to the past when the Great War has just devastated all life on Earth.
