GTA 5 Online Mod Update: Tron DLC Adds New Cars & Adversary Mode

Fans of the 80’s are in for a treat as Rockstar pays homage to Tron in the latest GTA 5 Online Mod DLC.

Rockstar rolled out a new update for GTA 5 Online earlier today that seems to be a tribute to the classic 1982 film Tron. How exactly? Well, just check out the trailer to find out.

That’s right, GTA Online is getting Tron’s iconic light cycle.

Of course, they can’t call it that, copyright and all that jazz. Instead the game calls it the Nagasaki Shotaro and is unlocked for all players once they’ve played the new Adversary Mode — Deadline.

Deadline is about as Tron as you can get. Up to four players are pitted against one another, each mounted with their own uniquely colored Shotaro. Each Shotaro will emit a temporary light trail and anyone unfortunate enough to collide with said trail will immediately explode. Players will have to outmaneuver each other to be the last man standing. To help with that, the game type provides a few power-ups.

The first of these power ups is Boost which gives a burst of speed to the player. Therefore allowing them to get ahead of their opponent and cut them off. Up next is an ability called Zoned which slows down time and allows for precise movement. And finally there’s Hop which, as the name implies, is a leap that allows you to avoid your opponent’s light trails.

As mentioned earlier, playing Deadline will unlock the Nagasaki Shotaro for personal use. Alongside that, it will unlock the Deadline Outfit so that players can look the part while riding their light cycles.

To celebrate the new update, Deadline will reward players with double RP and double GTA$ from today until November 21. In addition to that, the following vehicles and weapons will be on sale until November 21 as well.
