Ubisoft plans to release Ghost Recon Wildlands this March 7, 2017. But CEO Yves Guillemot hints at a possible Ghost Recon Wildlands beta to arrive even sooner.
Upcoming Ghost Recon Wildlands Beta
During Ubisoft’s earnings call for the first half of the fiscal year, the publisher confirmed that fans will be able to try out the new Ghost Recon game before its release date this coming March. A specific date was never announced, but CEO Yves Guillemot said that an open beta for the game will arrive “next quarter.”
Given that the current quarter are the months of October – December, we’ll most likely see the beta release some time at the beginning of 2017. Since the game comes out in early March, expect the beta to hit either January or February of 2017. Of course this is all speculation as Ubisoft did not give a specific date.
Beyond that, the CEO also stated that there will closed betas for the title as well. He then compared the title to The Division saying:
“It can be a revolutionary game, and to compare with The Division last year, it’s in the same trend actually.”
Of course perhaps comparing your next open-world, third-person shooter with The Division may not be the best idea. Given that The Division ended up having several post-launch issues and exploits that ended up giving it, and Ubisoft, a bad reputation. Hopefully Ubisoft has learned from their mistakes with The Division and will be able to deliver a much better experience.
The Ghosts in Your Room
To help promote the upcoming title, Ubisoft released a video describing the game’s protagonists — the Ghost Unit.
Professional, experienced, and the best of the best; the Ghost Unit is the military elite that are capable of going into any environment and adapting to complete their objective. While powerful on their own, their true potential shines when they work as a team. Together they are unbeatable.
Or at least that’s what the video tells us. While it’s cool and all, it’s still mostly just fluff. But it’s interesting fluff nonetheless and definitely helps get people excited for the upcoming title.
Ghost Recon Wildlands will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC starting March 7, 2017.
