Titanfall 2 Review: Best Beginner’s Tips & Cheats – Weapons, Gameplay & More!

Titanfall 2 is upon us and its multiplayer mode is as hectic as ever. For those that are new to the series or even veterans who might be a bit rusty, here’s a few tips and tricks to get you started.

Getting Familiar with Titanfall 2

The first thing you really need to do is get a grasp of the game’s core mechanics. The easiest way to do that is to go through Titanfall 2’s single player campaign. The campaign will teach you all the basics you’ll need to know for the multiplayer. You’ll learn things like wall-running, basic weapons and equipment, and all the different Titan types. Not to mention getting a good grasp of the gunplay and overall feel of the game.

Speaking of which, mastering the wall-run will also be a key aspect at getting good. Wall-running increases your movement speed and in a game like Titanfall 2, speed can mean the difference between life and death. Likewise, maps in the game have a very vertical design, giving you plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the feature.

Attack on Titans

There are six different Titans in the game, all with their own distinct strengths and playstyles. If you want to master the game, you’ll have to learn the ins and outs of all of them. Here’s a quick run down for each.

  • Ion: A well-rounded titan most effective at medium range. Recommended for beginners.
  • Scorch: A titan that focuses on AOE damage.
  • Northstar: A long-ranged sniper Titan. Works from behind the scenes but very weak at close range.
  • Ronin: A hit-and-run Titan that lacks armor but makes up for it in mobility.
  • Tone: A Titan that uses rockets and explosions to surprise enemies and destroy cover.
  • Legion: A Titan that excels at all ranges due to the two different firing modes. An advanced Titan not recommended for beginners.

Titanfall 2 is a Team Game

As fun as it sounds to go in solo and Rambo everything, you have to remember that Titanfall 2 is a team game. And that means sometimes you’ll have to give up some things for your allies.

If you manage to pick up a battery from the enemy, give it to an ally Titan as soon as possible. It will boost your ally’s shields allowing them to stay in the fight longer, and it’ll even decrease your own Titan wait time — everyone wins! Well, except the enemy I suppose.

David vs Goliath

Don’t be afraid to take on Titans as a pilot — it’s a much fairer match-up than you think. Just play smart and you’ll be able to take down the behemoths with no problem.

First you gotta get close to the Titan. Either use an Arc Grenade or a Firestar to blind them, or just flank them from where they can’t see you. Then, grapple unto the Titan’s back and start unloading your weapon or take out their battery. If you notice the Titan start using electric smoke to try and kill you, jump off immediately and wait for the smoke to clear. Now that the Titan has no means of defending itself, just jump back on and continue attacking. It should fall soon enough.

There, some basic tips and tricks to get you started in mastering Titanfall 2’s multiplayer. Just follow these steps and keep playing and you’ll be winning all your games in no time.
