Star Wars fans will see another big game next year. Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017 will be a sequel, and EA DICE is hinting towards a larger plot. EA CFO Blake Jorgensen also teased a “bigger and better” game at the EA earnings call a few days ago.
According to GameSpot, the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017 game will be using content from both new and older Star Wars movie. Critics and fans will understand that such a sequel is no surprise either, as the first game shipped a whopping 14-million copies.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017 – Bigger and Better
The Battlefront series is a franchise of Star Wars games that take a step towards shooters. It’s a third-person triple-A game taking place on various planets and environments within the Star Wars mythos.
The first Battlefront game was released by 2004 by LucasArts and Pandemic Studios. The critical acclaim it got led to the creation of various games, to the amusement of fans. While development for games stopped indefinitely after 2010, Walt Disney’s acquisition of Lucas Arts finally led EA DICE to remake the game. The first Battlefront game was released last November 2015.
The games take a similar format to FPS shooters, that in which there are two sides to the playing field. Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017 will most likely pin players against each other as parts of the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. Certain capture points in the field will provide points that can be used to purchase weapons and upgrade skills.
DLCs also provide unlockable heroes and villains in the game. The release of new Star Wars films may imply the appearance of new and movie-exclusive characters in the games.
EA is also pointing towards the much-awaited single-player mode for the hit shooter game. No details about the story are released, but it seems it will have a direct connection with the films.
According to Polygon, EA currently holds the rights to Star Wars video games and appears to have a lot of games on its plate. It appears the Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017 game will have siblings in other consoles. For instance, there’s a PlayStation VR title to be named Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission.
This hints towards a possible relationship with the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story film to be released this year. As to whether or not the game will have a similar plot or a completely different one is still unknown.
Meanwhile, Visceral Games is also developing a yet-to-be-named third person Star Wars game to be released in 2018. Respawn Entertainment, the same guys behind Titanfall, is also developing a triple-A Star Wars title.
