Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon

Created as a stand-alone DLC for the critically acclaimed Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon takes place in the dystopian future of 2007. Yes, you read that right — 2007. While the Far Cry series often tried to go for realism, Blood Dragon instead decides to take itself a little less seriously. Blood Dragon is a love letter to 80’s cyber punk, complete with neon lights, cheesy one-liners, and lasers.

Where Far Cry 3 had concrete camps and make shift bases guarded by pirates and slavers, Blood Dragon instead has large technological foundations complete with force field gates and underground labs filled to the brim with cyber soldiers. Instead of the luscious island of greens and browns, Blood Dragon is full of pink and purple neon lights. And of course, instead of the typical fauna that was found in Far Cry 3Blood Dragon contains creatures like Cyber-Panthers, Devil Goats, and the titular Blood Dragons themselves.

Critics gave the game a good rating when it first came out, averaging at an 81 on Metacritic. Many outlets praised its aesthetic and tone, essentially summing it up to just an overall fun experience. It’s definitely a title everyone should try, more so since it’ll be completely free by next week.
