Sir Roger Moore is opposed to the casting of a woman as the new James Bond.
“You could have a female, a Jane Bond, but it would have nothing to do with James Bond. No, Bond is Bond,” Moore revealed, as noted by 360Nobs.
Rumors of a female as replacement for Daniel Craig, the current Bond, recently emerged when the latter hinted that he would no longer play the role. Craig later backtracked and fans continued to speculate about the next 007.
Among those who expressed interest to be Jane Bond is Gillian Anderson. Her fans led a Twitter campaign supporting the X-Files actress. Anderson then tweeted, “It’s Bond. Jane Bond.” Her tweet included a photo of her Photoshopped into Bond’s iconic poster.

Priyanka Chopra also expressed her interest in the role, saying she wants to be Bond. Emilia Clarke also said she wants to play the female Bond.
Who is the the new James Bond favorite?
With speculations over another actor taking on the lead role in the next Bond film, Moore shared who he thinks is the best actor to take over the role. Moore had starred in several James Bond movies such as Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy.
He is backing Aidan Turner or Tom Hiddleston to take over the James Bond role if Craig steps down.
On the question as to who should be the next James Bond, this is what Moore has to say to Mirror.
“I think both Turner and Hiddleston look very good. However, Hiddleston has been doing a good job as a UNICEF ambassador.”
Hiddleston is considered the frontrunner after he reportedly met with Spectre director Sam Mendes, Vogue reported. London bookmakers canceled bets on Bond-to-be when Hiddleston became the overwhelming favorite.
