Kevin Garnett announced his retirement this Summer, with fans and his co-players bidding him well after a very successful career in the NBA. However, as the NBA 2016 kicked off, KG confirmed that he will be returning to the league. Who will he be playing for?
The former 8th overall draft pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves will be returning to the National Basketball Association. Garnett announced his retirement following his one-year return to the Timberwolves, ending his 21-year career in the NBA. The former champion and 2004 Most Valuable Player has been one of the most formidable center-forwards in the league, and now fans will see more of him again on television.
KG is coming back from retirement.
Kevin Garnett Joins Shaq, Ernie, Kenny & Charles
Unlike his role as the a franchise player for his previous teams, Garnett will be returning to the NBA but off the court. The 15-time NBA All Star will be joining TNT’s broadcast team, with the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley — all former NBA players too.
However, unlike the Inside the NBA crew, KG won’t be sitting with the rest on set. He will be having his own space that is currently “under construction.”
The network has officially welcomed their new anchor and it seems Kevin is enjoying his new position off court,
An initial teaser was posted last Friday on NBA on TNT’s Twitter, but was inexplicably deleted on Saturday.
In the teaser, the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year talked about having “opinions on this game” coming from his 21 years in the league.
“I have opinions on this game. It comes from years on the court — 21, to be exact,” the South Carolina native shared.
“I can break down situations, teams and players. I can spot weaknesses, and I recognize strengths, so am I the media now? The next talking head? Nah, I’m KG, and I’m coming to TNT.”
While it was previously speculated that Kobe Bryant will be joining the analysts’ table, fans were surprised to see that it was Garnett taking over the helms.
Garnett has signed a multi-million deal with the network and will serve as a contributor to Inside the NBA.
“The former NBA MVP will appear weekly throughout the season providing raw insight and commentary from a custom standalone set,” TNT confirmed.
Expect Kevin Garnett to add more flare to the already spontaneous foursome, especially since he promises to be as candid as possible.
