NBA 2016 Schedule & Live Stream: Warriors vs Spurs Score & Preview

NBA 2016 is heating up with the Golden State Warriors kick starting their campaign for reclaiming the NBA Championship against the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs are one of their strongest rivals in the Western Conference. The Warriors enter NBA 2016 with a goal to snag their second Championship in three years and are firm favorites.

Why are the Golden State Warriors Favorites?

Even after coming short of another championship after blowing a 3-1 lead in the 2016 NBA Finals, they still rank as favorites out of the West. The Warriors had a stroke of good luck after landing Kevin Durant during off season. He will make up a formidable quartet in tandem with Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry (who won back to back MVP) and Draymond Green.

The Oracle Arena at Oakland, California, will be witness to one of the hottest NBA 2016 games. The Spurs are equally formidable with Pau Gasol added to fill up retired Tim Duncan’s spot. The official elevation of Kawhi Leonard as the franchise top gun will also be a shot in the arm. The Spurs-Warriors playoff tally stands at 7-3  though the latter had three wins out of four season battles last year, according to YIBADA.

The Spurs will be banking on Tony Parker, Pau Gasol, Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge. The Warriors will be relying on their mighty quartet in tandem with Zaza Pachulia. Leonard is expected to average 25 points with 4 assists, 7 rebounds, a block and 2 steals this season. On the other hand, Pachulia is expected to be the surprise package for the Warriors.

As per expert predictions, the Spurs can pull off a shocking win on opening night if they can successfully take care of perimeter players from the Warriors. Opening night predictions stand at 115-103 in favor of the Warriors.

The Spurs will be without injured Danny Green and his defense abilities will be missed, according to coach Gregg Popovich. Green will be out for three weeks with backups Jonathan Simmons and Kyle Anderson expected to have bigger roles in the scheme of things.

Anderson is the front runner, having previously started in Green’s place last Friday in the pre-season win against the Rockets. Expect a bumper start to the new NBA season!
