When all we know about a story is a rather creepy family in an abandoned house, why do we need a shotgun? Resident 7 brings out another level of creepy in it teaser video.
Resident Evil 7 claims to be a departure to the generic Resident Evil formula. It takes a lot of familiar elements from the game and flushes it down the drain. A lot of fans seem to take a liking to the new format, but will that be enough?
According to the new Resident Evil teaser, seems running away from cannibals (or are they?) will not be enough. The new Resident Evil 7 game appears to be a first-person shooter. The lack of zombies in the trailers seem to trouble to a lot of fans, but it does contain a lot of Resident Evil tropes.
For instance, green herbs appear to be still the go-to healing items for players. Meanwhile, the newest trailer also reveals a grid-based inventory, a classic return from the old games.
A new age of horror
Recent trailers revealed Resident Evil 7 to be quite similar to the cancelled Silent Hills playable teaser (P.T.). However, Capcom did clarify that the games’ similarities are coincidental.
It seems Resident Evil 7 will be applying a Silent Hill formula with its very eerie atmosphere. Players are brought to a dilapidated mansion with a strange family. There are signs of cannibalism and mental deterioration with the game’s current teasers.
In fact, according to Polygon, a teased ESRB rating has revealed that the game’s protagonist Ethan will be able to fight with a ton of weapons. This includes pistols, flamethrowers, chainsaws and explosives.
But of course, the question on everyone’s minds is: why? What is he fighting?
Resident Evil 7 will answer these questions next year as it arrives on January 24, 2017 in PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC.
