After cancelling her tour and announcing a break from the Hollywood spotlight last August, Selena Gomez is spotted out in the public again after months of hiding. The singer, song-writer and actress is also reported to be writing new songs during her hiatus.
Selena Gomez was seen dining alone in Texas Roadhouse in Alcoa, Tennessee on Oct. 8 after almost three months of keeping out of the public’s eye.
Her decision to take a break from the limelight has been brought about by her illness, Lupus. According to the Daily Mail, the singer has undergone chemotherapy for lupus a year ago and is recovering from it. However, the star still opted to cut short her world tour due to lupus-related panic attacks and depression.
“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off,” Selena shared with E! News.
Selena Gomez’ fans are ecstatic about the news of their idol resurfacing in public. An E! News eyewitness even shared that the superstar was enjoying herself and has warmly accommodated fans who took photos with her.
“She enjoyed herself and was there for a late lunch, she couldn’t have been more gracious to everyone and to the fans and was more than happy to take pictures with whoever.”
Selena Gomez New Album on the Works?
According to Hollywood Life, Selena is writing music about her journey to recovery and as a way of coping with the depression and anxiety.
“One of her doctors suggested that she keep a journal and she’s finding a lot of what she’s written will make for great songs, but it will be more singer/songwriter type stuff, as opposed to the pop stuff she’s known for,” shared a Hollywood Life source.
In addition, the source shares that the music she is writing now is much different from her usual upbeat pop music. It is expected that the songs she will share in public will be more personal and mellow.
The young star has also been more than gracious in helping others with the same illness she has been battling with. On her birthday, she asked friends and family to support lupusresearch.org by donating instead of giving her gifts.
Selena has been ever so thankful with her fans, the Selenators, saying “Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best, I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”
Upon the news of Selena getting back on her feet, Selenators have rejoiced on social media sharing the hashtag #SelenaIsBackParty.
Though Selena Gomez is still struggling over depression, the actress looks better and with the support of her fans and this new chapter in the young singer’s life, there can only be more inspiration and creativity to expect in the future.
